Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Wi-Fi Randomly Disconnects

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is a premium Android smartphone released last year that has several outstanding features. This is a waterproof device made of an aluminum frame with Gorilla Glass on both the front and back. It sports a 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display that’s HDR10 compliant. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 835 processor with 4 GB of RAM which allows multiple apps to be run smoothly. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 Wi-Fi randomly disconnects issue and other related problems.

S8 Wi-Fi Randomly Disconnects

Problem: Hi, I have a Galaxy S8 and the phone inadvertently drops the WiFi signal, then it goes back into looking for a network, sometimes even old network pop up. A simple turn WiFi reset (turn off and turn back) will reconnect to the my current network, but it happens very frequently. The phone also turn on the Bluetooth and has even turn off the data as well. I tried your first few steps you have on your website, even fully resetting the phone to factory settings but none have worked. I haven’t gotten any answers from the Samsung store the times I been there, so If you have any answers to this problem I would appreciated. Thank you

Solution: If the issue remains even after doing a factory reset ( with no apps installed in the phone yet) then this is likely caused by a faulty Wi-Fi / Bluetooth chip. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Cannot Detect Wi-Fi Network

Problem: Hey there! I can’t detect my house wifi, even though the rest of my family members can. I can still detect other wifi networks, the only one I can’t detect is my house wifi. I’ve tried rebooting my phone, clearing cache partition, turning off and on the router but nothing worked. I’ve talked with samsung staff and they just asked me to bring it down to get checked, but the previous time this exact same thing happened it was solved by simply turning off and on the router.

Solution: If the problem only occurs when trying to connect to your home Wi-Fi then the first thing you should do is to check your home router settings. It might be blocking your phone from connecting to it. In case the router settings are correct or haven’t changed before the issue occurred then it’s time to troubleshoot the phone. Follow the steps listed below to fix this problem.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs once this is done.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 Not Connecting To Wi-Fi Network After Software Update

Problem: I have Samsung S8. For more than a month it didn’t have any updates and worked fine. A few days ago a system software update came and I installed it like all the others before. Since then my mobile and wifi most times cannot connect, sometimes I do not receive phone calls and the battery drains very fast. After I read on your site I removed my 4g by setting only to auto 3g and 2g and so far seems better. Any ideas how to remove the latest update?

Solution: Unfortunately, there is no automatic way to roll back the phone software to the previous version. You will have to manually flash the older firmware version using Odin. You can however find out why the phone is not connecting to the Wi-Fi network by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Restart the phone. Sometimes a quick restart will fix this kind of problem.
  • Check if the phone has the correct APN settings. The settings on your phone should match the one your carrier is using.
  • Try to check if the problem occurs when trying to connect to a different Wi-Fi network. This way you can check if the problem is caused by the router.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then it’s likely that this is caused by old software data that has not been completely removed from the phone during the software update. This old data causes a conflict with the new software version resulting in this issue. The best thing to do is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 Does Not Have Any Signal Bars

Problem: My phone all the time does not have any bars. I tried your steps but it is still problematic. I tried restarting and shutting my phone but the bars appear for a couple of secs and then disappears. I’m very confused. I have an s8.

Solution: You might be in an area that has low to poor network signal. Try going to a different area then check if the issue still occurs. You should also try inserting the SIM card in another phone and check if it is getting a signal. This way you can verify if the problem is account or SIM card related.

One last troubleshooting step you can do is a factory reset in case the above steps fails to fix the problem. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
