Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Randomly Switching Off

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is one of the best flagship Android smartphone model released last year that offers several new feature to consumers. The first thing that you will notice on this device is that it no longer has a physical button instead the front part is occupied mostly by its large 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display. The phone uses a powerful octa core processor combined with 4GB of RAM to provide a smooth user experience. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 randomly switching off issue and other related problems.

S8 Randomly Switching Off

Problem: Hello, my phone randomly switched off yesterday when I should have had 30% battery. Since then I have been unable to properly turn it back on. When I try to turn the phone on it doesn’t get past the samsung galaxy S8 writing (at first it would turn on but always switched off after a few seconds). It’s been charging very erratically, it frequently shows 45% charge but will also show 100% charge then switch to 0% or 45% again. I tried to turn it on in safe mode but it still just shutdown after a few seconds. I managed to get into recovery mode and cleared cached data and did a factory reset. Since then it does not turn on at all. You cannot take the battery out of the phone but I did take out the Sim and SD card for a short while. I have taken it off charge for several hours and so now am going to try to charge it overnight to see if that makes a difference? I would really appreciate your help with this issue, thanks.

Solution: Since the phone is not turning on right now the battery might already be drained. The first thing that you will need to do right now is to charge the phone by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Perform a battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.
  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger.
  • In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
  • Turn on the phone.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component, possibly the battery. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Only Charges Using Wireless Charger

Problem: Hello, I have a samsung galaxy s8, and since the first day I bought it has had charging problems, didn’t charge fast enough, it took it 6-7 hours to get to 100%. It also didn’t recognize its original charger so I used an old one I had. That lasted a couple of months till it started not charging at all with any kind of cable, pc never recognized it. I’ve tried cleaning the box and everything I could think of but nothing worked! Now I’m using a wireless charger and that works perfectly but because of work reasons I need to use the cable charger and don’t know how to solve the problem!

Solution: If you have already cleaned the charging port of the phone and tried using different charging cords and wall chargers to charge your phone which does not work then the problem could be caused by a defective charging port. You will need to have this checked and most likely replaced at a service center.

S8 Keeps On Freezing Battery Drains Fast

Problem: My phone has been having some issues of late. It’s response is super low. Suddenly started to hang which has never been so. Whenever I charge the battery to 100%, it doesn’t last for even 5mins. And also when it’s on battery mode, the phone suddenly started going off and on on its own again and again and before you know it the phone is dead. When it’s plugged in, the phone doesn’t go off though but yet it still keeps hanging and freezing. Also, my phone gets really hot like within split seconds of me turning it on. Please what do I do. What’s the problem

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to remove the microSD card of the phone ( if you have one installed), backup your phone data, then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in the phone. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this is most likely a hardware related problem already.
