Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Not Turning On After Using In Pool

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is one of the flagship devices released by the South Korean giant last year. This phone can be easily distinguished by its 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display which occupies most of the front portion of the device. It uses the Snapdragon 835 processor which when used in tandem with the available 4GB of RAM allows the phone to run any app smoothly. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 not turning on after using in pool issue and other related problems.

S8 Not Turning On After Using In Pool

Problem: I used my Samsung Galaxy S8 to take pictures by the pool then it went dead even though it had battery charge left in it. It took 5 days to dry. I no longer see the fog in the camera lens. Now it won’t turn on. When I connect it to a charger it makes static noises. I tried the soft reboot which entails holding the volume-down button and the power bottom for few seconds. Nothing happened! There are no physical damages on the phone. I have used it in the water before without issue, once it dried it was up and running. Why is it not turning on or charging? It is just a blank screen! HELP!!!

Solution: It looks like water has entered the phone and damaged certain internal components. This usually happens when the rubber seals that prevent water from entering your phone has been broken. You can however troubleshoot this issue by connecting it to a wall charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes. In case the problem is caused by a drained battery then your phone should turn on after it has sufficient charge. If your phone still doesn’t turn on then you will need to have this checked at a service center.

S8 Moisture Detected Error Appears When Battery Gets Drained

Problem: I have not subjected my phone to water or anything even close (rain etc) and yet recently when the battery completely drained, I went to plug it into the USB C and it said there was water damage and couldn’t be charged…. I’ve been able to mitigate this a few times by waiting or by using the wireless charger…. Getting some charge in it, then the water warning seems to go away and I’m able to charge again. I can go weeks without the warning but the first time I let the battery COMPLETELY DRAIN TO 0 and power off due to battery…. I get that water error 100% of the time. So it has something to do with being completely drained ….. Any thoughts? This time this warning seems to be sticking around I don’t know on my OS other than it says I’m the most recent and updated.

Solution: The moisture detected error will usually pop up when the moisture sensor of the phone detects the presence of liquid in the charging port. What you will want to do in this case is to make sure that the port is dry by using a mini vacuum or a hair dryer. In case it is already dry and the issue still persists especially if the battery has fully drained then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Check if a new software update is available then update your phone accordingly.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This is recommended especially if the issue is caused by a software glitch.

S8 Is Not Booting Or Charging

Problem: Phone got to two percent battery life last night. Put phone on charger all night and woke up this morning and it would not turn on. After evaluating I concluded the phone is not booting, and not charging. I have followed all the steps on this forum with no luck. The ending symptoms to leave with you are; phone will only show the “charging” icon when trying to boot, but will not boot to main screen, and will turn black shortly after. Recovery mode and safe boot will not work.

Solution: For this particular case you will have to clean the charging port of the charging port using a can of compressed air. Once this is done try charging the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger for at least 20 minutes. Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

In case the issue still persists then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

S8 Will Not Turn On Unless Plugged To Wall Charger

Problem: I’m unable to turn on my phone without having it plugged into the wall adapter charger. It’ll instantly shut down and won’t turn on if not charging. I’ve tried booting into Safe Mode, and Recovery Mode. I even tried to do a Factory Restore but nothing changed. I need urgent help. I left it charging for a 4 hours and it started doing this. It is not not rooted or modified in any way.

Solution: If the phone only works if it is plugged to a wall charger then it’s likely that the battery or power IC is faulty. The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
