Welcome to another installment of our troubleshooting series where we aim to help our readers who own the #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 fix the issues that they are experiencing with their device. This phone is a flagship model released last year that has several outstanding features. It has a great 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display as well as a powerful Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 does not remember Wi-Fi passwords issue and other related problems.
S8 Does Not Remember Wi-Fi Passwords
Problem: Whenever i turn wifi on from off or disable airplane mode and turn wifi on, i have to enter wifi password again for all saved networks. All saved networks vanish away. Once i switch off wifi and on turning it on, it takes 5 minutes to turn on with available networks showing, i have to re enter password for earlier known networks.
Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to check if the problem is caused by an app you downloaded. To do this just start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset as this could already be caused by a software glitch.
S8 Wi-Fi Calling Does Not Turn Off
Problem: i just bought an unlocked T-mobile branded samsung galaxy s8, . After completing the software installation and update i noticed that there was a WIFI calling option turned on but whenever i tried to switch it off, it doesn’t go off. It’s permanently on. I noticed that there is also no mobile data option or button, instead whenever the wifi calling option is switched on the 3G/4G mobile data signal is always on. This has caused all the call credit on my phone to be deducted as the wifi calling feature is showing up on my phone as a mobile data connection which i have been unable to turn off. Please how can i get rid of this wifi calling feature and how do i activate or install the mobile data feature/button instead?. Thank you Ps: I restored the phone to factory setting and reinstall the software, it did not work. Please HELP!!!
Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to turn off the Wi-Fi calling option in your phone.
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Settings > Connections.
- If necessary, slide the Wi-Fi switch right to the ON position.
- Tap More connection settings.
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling.
- Slide the Wi-Fi switch right to the OFF position.
If the issue still persists and doing a factory reset does not fix the problem then you should consider flashing the phone with its updated firmware file using Odin. You can get the firmware file as well as the instructions on how to flash the phone from the Sammobile website.
S8 Disconnects From Wi-Fi Network
Problem: The phone doesn’t stay connected to my network. It will connect briefly to just disconnect right after. I’ve tried using the phone in different networks, same results. Is there a way I can fix this problem? I hope you guys can help me find a solution to this annoying issue.
Solution: If this issue occurs even when trying to connect your phone to different networks then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have this checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.
