S8+ Black Screen of Death
Problem: I have the ‘black screen of death’. My phone is on and charged – however, even with trying to reset, the screen stays black all the time (the samsung logo doesn’t show up) so I’m unable to try some of the other suggestions. I can answer a call as I can guess where the button comes up on the screen but only when I call myself as my phone was on silent and no vibration modes prior to the issue. Can you make any further suggestions of ways to try to fix this or will I need to take it into someone to look at?
Solution: Since it appears that the phone is still working as you can still answer a call then it looks like the problem right now is that the display is not functioning properly. The best thing to do right now is to check if this is caused by a software glitch. Try to start the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode and you see several options on the display then proceed with the factory reset option. Take note that this will erase your phone data. Once this is done try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S8+ No Display After Screen Replacement
Problem: I have recently replaced my screen and it is a Samsung S8+ using the ifixit guide, I bought the complete assembly so I wouldn’t have to try and remove the glass. I also checked and double checked the cable connections to make sure they are connected. I even bought a new battery to eliminate any issues. A corner of the frame is broken and so the screen lifts a little.. The two things I need fixed is I have no display. The light and indicator and sound works but no display. Is the screen lifting causing this? Because I have even changed the complete assembly out for another new one as well.. Still no success. I tried taking the discharge out by holding the power button while phone is off for 1,2, and 3 mins and tried a reset combination of button holds. I’m at a loss. Please help
Solution: When you replace the display assembly of the phone with a new one it should be working properly after the procedure ( as long as the replacement screen is not defective). Since you are experiencing a no display problem then it’s very likely that the information from the motherboard is not reaching the display. Try to check the connection between the motherboard and the display and make sure that it is placed correctly. Should the problem still persist then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.
S8+ Screen Is Black With Blinking Blue LED
Problem: We are on vacation and my husbands phone was in his pocket at the beach and a wave came up and the phone got wet. The phone immediately shut down and a blue light came on. Then it blinked for a while and now it is just a blue light that is on. We have all our photos here and would love some help. Thank you. This is a Samsung Galaxy S8 plus. I pushed the volume and power button and screen came up that said warning and said to push volume up if you want a new os or down volume if you want to continue. I pushed down and nothing happened and the screen is still black with a pulsing blue light.
Solution: It looks like sea water might have entered the phone which is causing the problem right now. Although this phone has some level of water resistance there are still instances when water can enter the device.
The best thing that you can do is to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once this is done try turning on the phone. If the problem still persists then you will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked.
