Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Battery Drains Quickly After Software Update

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is a flagship phone released last year that has a great design and has a lot of useful features. The first thing you will notice on this device is its large 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display that occupies most of the front part of the phone which is made possible since the physical home button is no longer present. Inside the device is a Snapdragon 835 processor which when paired with its 4GB of RAM allows the phone to run any app smoothly. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 battery drains quickly after software update issue and other related problems.

S8 Battery Drains Quickly After Software Update

Problem: I  have a Galaxy S8.  I installed a software update version G892USQS2BRF1/G892UOYN2BRF1 on July 9th.  Before the upgrade, I could go 2 days on my battery. Since the upgrade, my battery has been draining at an alarmingly fast rate. I’ve also noticed my phone is hotter. I have all background running apps off, deactivated my always on screen and it is still draining very fast.  I’ve even cleared the system cache per this article: https://thedroidguy.com/galaxy-s8-battery-drains-quicker-after-an-update-troubleshooting-guide-1080993 I don’t even get a full day usage before having to recharge. My battery is currently at 65%. When I look at the usage (35%), Android system has used 10% and Android OS has used 7%, screen 3%, Google play 1%, Device Idle 1% and Cell standby 1%. I love my phone, but I switched from my iPhone to Android because of the exact same experience I had last November with the IOS update that killed my phone.

Solution: Sometimes after a software update the phone will need to cache your phone data to optimize the way the data is being processed. This will usually cause the battery to drain quite fast however this will only last for a day or two. Once the data has been optimized you should see an improvement over the phone battery usage. In case the issue persists then the problem is most likely caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. If you have a microSD card installed in the phone you should remove it. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then you can proceed with using your phone. If the issue persists then you should have this checked at a service center.

S8 Freezes Stuck In Samsung Logo

Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 for a few months... few days ago, i turn the phone on after charging and as usual it shows samsung logo and continue to the lock Screen.when i swipe up the lock screen, it work and then suddenly the phone freeze and restarting itself. it happens all the time at least 3 or 4 times and finally after the samsung logo, it stuck there with black screen and blinking LED light on top. i tried to force restart or hard restart and even try the recovery mode still nothing happen it just stuck there so i have to wait at least 2 days for the battery to drain and the phone died to be able to power it on. i tried to enter recovery mode but after the loading it says no command and then it stuck there. i press and hold power button and everything but still no luck so i have to wait for the battery to drain itself again before i’m able to try something…what happen to my phone and could you help me???? i have removed my SD Card and SIM Card from my phone and still no luck! please help

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset from here. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

  • Make sure that the phone is off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe data / factory reset.
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes  delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

If the issue still persists even after doing a factory reset then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
