S7 Overheats Stuck In Samsung Logo
Problem: Dear Droid Guy, My Samsung Galaxy S7 (not an Edge) overheated (I believe) last night while navigating, being on speakerphone, and charging at the same time. It appears to have gone into a holding pattern where it will display the empty battery with lightning bolt symbol and nothing else (it was at 66% battery when this happened). Upon trying the Maintenance Mode (power + volume down key) multiple times it displays the four options without issue. I have tried both the #1 (normal reset) and #4 (power off, and then manually powered back on) only for the phone to show “Samsung Galaxy S7” logo (during which the indicator light at the top left of the phone is flashing white once a second). Upon reboot the phone will show the “SAMSUNG” animation where the letters are gradually filled in (During which the indicator light is solid blue or green), however, after completing the animation the screen will go dark for multiple second before returning to the same stagnant “…S7” logo mentioned before accompanied by the flashing white light. Additionally the phone appears to be struggling to hold a charge as the 66% battery from last night was entirely depleted by this morning. However, last night as well as today, after selecting #4 from the Maintenance screen, plugging the phone in successfully displays the dynamic charging battery logo (now at 5%). Although I would like to revive the phone, my greatest concern is recovering any data that has not been backed up. I have an insurance policy and can receive a new S7 or it may be time for a new phone anyway. Any advice you may have on resuscitating this phone would be deeply appreciated. I will be going back into Verizon tomorrow to consult with their Samsung specialist.
Solution: You could try connecting your phone to a computer with Smart Switch installed then check if you can backup your phone data this way. This will only work if you can turn on the phone successfully. In case the phone is still stuck in the Samsung logo then you should consider doing a factory reset in recovery mode. This procedure however will erase your phone data.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Not Turning On Heats Up When Charging
Problem: Hi! I have never asked any questions on website before, but this time i had to because this type of thing happens to all my android phones. This morning I woke up from a quick nap, and when i checked my phone battery it was extremely low. It was charging at the time so i wondered what was going on. I looked back at it no more than 10 seconds later, and all of a sudden it was unresponsive. No charging lights, no vibration, nothing. I searched up things i could do, like hit the power button and see if that would solve the problem, but nothing would work. Now all that happens when i plug it in is that the phone heats up. I emailed you guys hoping for any advice about what I could do without taking it to a repair shop. Thanks!
Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Once this is done try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. Remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed then turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If the phone does not turn on then try starting the phone in recovery mode then from here do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Randomly Turns Off
Problem: Hi, my Samsung galaxy S7 started acting up the section I turned it on, after I got thing setup with Verizon and left the store it started glitching and turning off. It’s a brand new phone so I thought it needed to be updated, so I updated it and went to bed. Now its keep turning on to the turn on screen with the Samsung Galaxy S7 logo then turning right back off, I can’t do anything about it.
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to remove the microSD card of the phone ( if you have one installed) then do a factory reset in recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data. If the issue still occurs after this then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
