S7 Is Unresponsive
Problem: Hi there! I’m so distressed about my phone suddenly not working! It’s an S7. I was driving to work and it was working perfectly fine, playing music via bluetooth and sending/receiving texts and by the time I sat down at my desk, the screen was stuck on just a blank black screen showing only the time. It wouldn’t respond to screen touches or pressing/holding the back button. I restarted the phone and now it is just completely black showing nothing at all. I plugged it in to try charging it but still is not responsive to anything.. I didn’t drop it or get it wet or anything in the time from driving to walking to my desk. Any further ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
Solution: Let’s try checking first if the battery of the phone has run out of charge and is causing this problem. First, clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port gets removed. Since you have already tried charging the phone what you should do this time is to try charging it again for 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port. Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.
In case the issue persists then try starting the phone in recovery mode and if the phone starts in this mode I suggest that you do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.
S7 Stuck In Pattern Unlock Screen
Problem: Hello, I really need some help. Let me first say, I’m a noob, but I can follow instructions. My S7 is stuck at the pattern unlock screen. When I boot it up, I get the Samsung logo then I get the “to start your android, draw your pattern” screen. After drawing the pattern it stays stuck there. I’ve tried checking if this is the “bootloop” problem, but almost all of the threads found online describe the screen getting stuck at the Samsung logo, usually after the OS suddenly froze. I’m not sure if my issue qualifies as a bootloop ( I can even make an emergency call). In any case, it won’t start up. I tried starting up in safe mode, it didn’t work . I wiped the cache, it didn’t work. At this point, a factory reset is the only thing that’s simple enough for me to do but I don’t want to until I can get some valuable data off my phone. The problem may have started when android gave me a warning for several days that my storage capacity was running out. I deleted some large videos which should have helped but I’m guessing this still has to do something with it. Then at one point, some apps I tried to open gave me an error, I don’t remember the error but after googling I think it might have been this one: process android.process.acore. Whatever it was, it was stopping me from launching nova launcher and even the google launcher didn’t work, the screen was resetting constantly and giving me the same error with any app I opened. Android did not freeze, but I decided to restart, after which it got stuck . I should have tried to back some stuff up first, so I’m really regretting this. As I’m writing this, I’ve left the phone on for an hour, It’s still spinning the android logo. I’m just waiting for it to drain the battery in a last attempt to have it magically repaired. But I’m expecting the worst. Is this a unique problem? Is there any way I can fix it? Is there any way I can delete data to increase storage capacity? Please, any help would be appreciated.
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing this then perform a simulated battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. In case the issue persists then you will have to consider doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
S7 Turns Off With Battery Life Left
Problem: I have a samsung s7 , that i bought 14 months ago , it worked perfectly until to day , when it turned suddenly off in 30% this morning , and now 7 hours after when it fully charged , it went off again at 80%. my question is : is this normal for a battery to die from to another ? should i just change the battery ? or is this something wrong ? thank you so much for your help
Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. To do this you have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install anything in the phone. You should first check if the phone shuts down on its own even with battery life left. If the issue persists then you should bring this to a service center and have it checked as it could be caused by a faulty battery that needs to be replaced.
