S7 Edge Charges Very Slowly
Problem: Hello! I read a everything you have analyzed for the S7 Edge device and the tips that you give to try and solve them and they are SO good and helpful even if I don’t have the same exact problem with my phone so even if I need an answer asap I still want to hear your opinion. My problem: I have my S7 Edge about a year and a half now. For about a month now I have problems with the battery. I has not been keeping the charge even if i don’t even touch it for hours. When its plugged in and i am using it, it does charge but not enough and sometimes it will keep losing percentage. Maybe what i use it for uses a lot of battery but i would at least expect it to keep the battery on the same level not go lower. If I make the mistake and allow my phone to turn off then the big issue shows up. It shows that it is charging but it doesn’t change enough and when i say that i mean that the phone is off and i can stay at 2% or 3% and tops 5% for pretty much an hour and I can not turn the device on. Times like today that i was so upset that it would not charge enough to turn it on and try the tips that I read on your site to even attempt to fix it. sorry it was a lot and poorly written but I am still upset with my phone right now lol! Thank you in advance!
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to check if the problem is caused by some software glitch. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Instead, proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
- Charge the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger. Wait for the phone to be fully charged.
- Check if the issue still occurs.
In case the problem persists then this could already be caused by a faulty battery that needs to be replaced. You need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
S7 Edge Overheating Error
Problem: I accidentally dropped my S7 Edge in a shallow body of water just about 1 foot deep and picked it up right after. Everything was working fine and well until the next day I wasn’t using my phone and it would give me a warning that it is “overheating”. I checked at first and it isn’t hot but after a few hours the phone did get slightly warm without any running apps though it isn’t as hot as when it is charging normally. Problem is, my phone wouldn’t let me charge because of the “overheating” message and now the battery level is already 0% and my phone has been shutdown. It has been 2 days and so far the phone still doesn’t allow me to charge and is still giving me that overheating message when it doesn’t feel hot at all. I suspect that water may have entered and somehow caused damage as I see a bit of moisture inside the camera. I’ve used the S7 and S8 and I have never encountered this issue before.
Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the phone is free from any moisture. Place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb any moisture present in the phone. Once this is done make sure that the charging port of the phone is clean and free from any dust or debris. If necessary you should clean the port using a can of compressed air. Try charging your phone this time using a different charging cord and wall charger. If the same error occurs then the phone might be water damaged. You can further check if this is the case by verifying if the liquid damage indicator of the phone has been tripped. This is a sticker located inside the SIM slot of the phone. You should first remove the SIM/microSD card tray then look into the SIM slot. If the sticker is pink or red then the phone has most likely suffered from water damage. You will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Edge Only Charges When Connected To Computer
Problem: Please help, My S7 Edge will not charge. It only charges when connected to computer. Earlier for 2-3 months, factory reset used to work for month, now after factory reset, it is still on Android 6.0.1. Could not understand which firmware I have and what are limits, where I look for those abbreviated things in broadband. I need to somehow put phone back to use.
Solution: The first thing you will need to do in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Once this is done try charging the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger. If the issue still persists then it’s very likely that the charging port assembly of the phone is faulty. You will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
