SmartRing from MOTA brings notifications to your fingertips, literally

MOTA SmartRing

We’ve seen smartwatches and even smaller mobile companion accessories launching in the market. But the MOTA SmartRing takes the cake for being the smallest of them all as it fits right into your finger. The idea is to provide notifications to the users right at their fingertips (quite literally) and offer the liberty to view or dismiss them at their convenience.

As you can see from the image above, the SmartRing doesn’t have a large screen real estate, which is understandable as it is meant to slot into your finger. But at the same time, the makers promise that users get to control every aspect of how their notifications are delivered. This is possible thanks to a dedicated app available on major mobile platforms.

The accessory will be shown off in Berlin later this week, when we’ll probably get a better idea of what to expect from the device. Pricing details haven’t been disclosed yet, but the SmartRing will be reportedly available in North American markets starting Q4 2014.

Here’s what the company had to say about the device – “Users decide for themselves exactly who they want to talk with and which events they wish to be updated about. The SmartRing displays notifications in text form, with users able scroll through words at the speed they wish. The SmartRing provides maximum discretion over notifications, letting the wearer enable and disable audible and tactile alerts.”
