Samsung to officially shut down Milk Video in November

Samsung Milk Video

Samsung’s #MilkVideo service aimed to bring user curated content from YouTube, VEVO, College Humor and a handful of other sources. However, the company has now decided to close up Milk Video for good.

The company hasn’t made an official announcement as of yet, but the Play Store listing of the app mentions the following – “Thank you for using Samsung Milk Video. While we remain committed to providing premium entertainment services, we have decided to end support for the Samsung Milk Video app as of November 20, 2015.”

The Korean manufacturer is yet to offer a formal explanation for the closure of the service, but it’s pretty obvious as to why this step has been taken. Samsung’s exclusivity model hasn’t quite worked in its favor. We saw the company trying to change this by bringing its S Health app to a wider range of devices recently.

Samsung was sued for using the Milk Video name by a company called Milk Studios, which could also be part of the reason for the shutting down of Milk Video.
