Samsung’s ruggedized Galaxy Tab Active is now available for pre-order in the U.S. with a hefty price tag of $699.99. For this price, you get an 8 inch 1280 x 800 resolution display, a quad core Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable), a 3.15-megapixel camera on the back, Android 4.4.4 KitKat and a 4,450 mAh battery. The tablet also has IP67 certification, making it immune to water and dust to a great extent. The device can also withstand a drop from up to 1.2 meters, so it’s a pretty sturdy tablet to have. Samsung is offering the Galaxy Tab Active in a Titanium Green color combination.
However, the ruggedized exterior comes with a steep price and a rather unflattering internal hardware. The specifications are almost comparable to Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 4 series which packs midrange hardware coupled with a budget price tag. But if a sturdy build quality is what you’re looking for in a tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active should be high up on your list. You can also consider the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact which was announced back during the IFA event last month. Hit the link below to pre-order the tablet directly from Samsung USA.
