Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Australia Launch Delayed, Samsung Prepared To Fight Back

Reuters is reporting this morning that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been delayed in Australia due to a patent related lawsuit from Apple.

We’ve heard the same story in Germany and with other member countries of the European Union.  Apple was originally granted an injunction to halt sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 within the European Union except the Netherlands however Samsung won a temporary suspension of the European Union.  Today we hear Australia has halted any “merchant activities” including sales of the 10.1 Android Honeycomb device.

More after the break

Samsung has agreed to delay the launch of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 until a court hearing in Australia. They’ve also issued the following statement from it’s S. Korean headquarters:

“Today, Samsung informed the Federal Court of Australia it intends to file a cross claim against Apple Australia and Apple Inc regarding the invalidity of the patents previously asserted by Apple and also a cross claim against Apple regarding violation of patents held by Samsung by selling its iPhones and iPads,” Samsung said in a statement.

Samsung has countersued Apple saying that Apple has infringed on their wireless patents.
