S7 Freezes After Restart
Problem: Ever since updating to Nougat, whenever I power cycle my phone, I have to let it sit a good 4-5 minutes before i can unlock it. If I try too early, I get the prompt asking for me to enter my pattern (since it won’t allow fingerprint on startup) but then sits with the pattern completed for a few seconds before it relocks the screen.
Solution: For this particular issue you should start the troubleshooting by checking if the microSD card is causing the problem. If your phone has a microSD card installed and it has developed some corrupt sectors then this problem could occur. Try removing the card then check if the issue still occurs.
If your phone does not have a microSD card installed or if the issue still occurs even after the removal of the microSD card then there’s a possibility that this is caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the software update. This old data is now causing a conflict with the new software version resulting in this problem. What you need to do to fix this is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S7 Screen Not Turning On After Phone Got Dropped
Problem: I recently dropped my phone on it’s face, causing the top left corner to crack. Now, the screen won’t fully turn on. I have the blinking blue light and the red light when I put it on charge. When I press the power button, the back button lights up, but the screen won’t do more than a slight flash on the side. My alarm even went off this morning. How do I fix this? I have numerous photos very near and dear to me that I don’t believe I have backed up, and i’d be very grateful if you could help me and others with similar problems. Thank you in advance!
Solution: If your screen is cracked and does not fully turn on but then you can hear the alarm going off then there’s a possibility that only the display of the phone got damaged by the drop. The only way to fix this is to have the whole display assembly replaced at a service center. Replacing this display will not delete any of your personal data such as photos that are stored in the phone. However, just to play safe you can try to backup your phone data by connecting your phone to a computer with Smart Switch installed. Try to use this software to backup your phone data.
S7 Blue Light With Black Screen
Problem: My screen is black and there is a blue light near on the notifications display. All methods of restarting it and rebooting haven’t worked. Even when I use the restarting method, the screen is still black but it shows the same lights as if it restarted. Do I have to go to a technician to resolve this issue?
Solution: What you should do first in this particular case is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. Follow the steps listed below to charge your phone.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
- Charge your phone using its charger for at least 20 minutes.
- If you get no response then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- If you get no response then try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
- If you get no response then try using a wireless charger.
Once the phone has sufficient charge you will then perform a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the phone does not restart then try to check if you are able to access the recovery mode. From here you need to do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Randomly Turns Off
Problem: Almost every time I try to get rid of the notifications in my galaxy s7 it lags out and shuts off my phone to the lock screen even when I’m on my lock screen. When I turn my phone completely off and even reboot it just randomly shuts off 5 times to where I have to keep putting in my password. I also have a lot of memory used if that has anything to do with it.
Solution: Do you have a microSD card installed in your phone? If you do have one then try uninstalling it as this could be causing the problem. If your phone does not have a microSD card or if the issue still occurs even after removing the microSD card then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Black Screen Of Death
Problem: Black screen of death.. Screen just completely went black. Not plugged into charger. I can still feel it vibrating and ringing during notifications and text messages. Have tried all hacks I have been able to find with combinations of power and volume buttons. Nothing pops up on screen regarding reboot or reset. S7 does not have removable battery.
Related Problem: Hi, so I’ve tried everything I can find on YouTube on how to reset . My daughters S7 screen went mostly black except the bottom of the screen was kind of blurred?? It still vibrates and rings but I can’t get the screen to fix, nothing happened to it it was just sitting, is this fixable?
Solution: Since the notifications still works then there’s a possibility that the problem could be caused by a damaged display assembly. Try starting your phone in recovery mode then check if the screen works in this mode. If it works then you need to do a factory reset from here. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. If the screen still does not work in recovery mode then you will need to bring your phone to a service center and have the display checked and if it is found to be defective possibly replaced.
S7 Not Charging After Getting Wet
Problem: So I went swimming at a beach yesterday and my galaxy s7 started charging for a while. Then when I woke up today, it Still won’t charge as if i just dunked it. I attempted to restart the phone, and I shook the phone. The first time, it started charging after the battery depleted. But now it wont charge
Solution: Since you brought the phone with you while you were swimming you will need to make sure that the charging port is dry and free from dirt. To do this you need to clean this port using a can of compressed air. Once this is done and the phone still does not charge then you should try using a different charging cord and wall charger. If the issue persists then try the following below.
- Charge your phone from a computer USB port. If it charges this way then the charging port of the phone has a damaged pin. Bring this to a service center and have it checked.
- Use a wireless charger to charge your phone. If it charges then the charging port assembly of your phone might be damaged. Bring this to a service center and have it checked.
If your phone does not charge with the above methods then you need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
