S6 Unable To Open Text Messages

Problem: My phone is currently unable to open my messages every time i attempt to do this i receive an error message i have tried all the standard protocols and still nothing has changed. I know feel this may be due to an outdated phone therefore i forced an update on my phone as i had been putting the update off for as long as possible it is now apparent that the update will not complete and fails every time so i have no understanding what could be coursing both these issues any ideas?

Solution: If an error occurs when opening a text message then try the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager. This is the first thing that needs to be done since it removes any corrupt temporary data of the app which could be causing the problem.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone is in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the problem doesn’t occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Regarding your phone not being able to get the latest software update you should first make sure that your device meets these conditions.

  • The phone must not be rooted.
  • The phone must not be running on a custom software.
  • The phone should be running on its original network.

If your phone meets the above conditions and no update is available then try using Kies or Smart Switch to update your phone. You should also try to do a factory reset before checking for the update. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S6 Not Sending or Receiving Picture Message After Update

Problem: Since last system update on my gs6 many times when and or receiving a message with a picture in it out fails to retrieve or.. Notice on send it shows the size of file and little white circle sleeving folks but often doesn’t complete.. Never saw this before? Did a setting change? Thanks for any suggestions!

Solution: The issue could be caused by a change in the APN setting in your phone when the update was applied. Try to check if the APN settings of your device matches the one your carrier is using. Make the necessary changes in your device if needed.

If your phone already has the correct APN setting and it is still unable to send or receive a picture message then perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Make sure your phone has an active mobile data subscription and that the mobile data switch is turned on.
  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then an app you downloaded could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Messages Not Working Error

Problem: Hi, i’m having trouble with my messaging app. When i receive messages the notification takes a while to show up especially when using my phone. When i recieve a picture message, my phone says “messages not working” and goes blank. I’ve tried clearing the data, deleting messages, deleting apps

Solution: You should try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode to fix this problem. If that doesn’t work then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Messages Has Stopped Working

Problem: I reset my Samsung Galaxy S6 a week & a day ago. It gave me wifi calling and texting. I had no issues, then the 2nd day my messages stopped working & I still cannot get on my messages. It’s very frustrating because I can’t text anybody. It will tell me when I have gotten something but when I click the app to read it, it closes out of messages & says unfortunately messages has stopped working.

Solution: This problem can usually be resolved by clearing the cache and data of the messaging app from the application manager. If that doesn’t work then try starting your phone in Safe Mode. When your phone is started in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue doesn’t occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

One last troubleshooting step that you should consider should the above steps fail is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S6 Group Text Reply Goes To Different Thread

Problem: With my Galaxy 6 Active (Android 6.0.1) on AT&T … Often times when I reply to a group text thread, the message jumps over to another group thread and is sent to the wrong set of recipients. This is often confusing to the recipients and could result in embarrassing disclosures (hasn’t happened yet). Why is this happening and what can be done? Regards

Solution: It’s possible that a glitch in the messaging app is causing this problem. The first thing you should do in this case is to clear the cache and data of the messaging app then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If this doesn’t work then your last resort is to do a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
