S6 Stuck In Installing System Update Screen After Flashing

Problem: Hi… I have a Galaxy S6 (VZW) that was constantly locking up, rebooting, etc. I don’t recall if I this was post-Nougat, nor even what version of Android it has right now. I reinstalled the firmware via Odin — 99% sure it was the right version — and it seemed to work. But then it rebooted, said “installing updates” until around 32%, then rebooted 4-5 times. Now it’s stuck on “Installing system update” screen. Have tried every reboot option available: normal, safe mode, etc… nothing works. Really at a loss for what to do next. Any help greatly appreciated!

Solution: What you will want to do in this case is to start the phone in recovery mode then perform the two steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone
  • Do a factory reset.

When the reset is complete restart your phone then check if the problem still occurs. If it does then I suggest that you flash your phone again. Make sure to use a freshly downloaded firmware file ( I suggest that you download the file from the Sammobile website).

S6 Keeps Turning Off

Problem: My phone keeps turning off . more so after trying to open an app but not always. Tried soft reset. battery also takes forever to charge and drains quickly after using some apps

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular issue is to backup your phone data. Once this is done then perform a factory reset. In the event that the reset does not complete due to the phone turning off then you should connect the phone to its charger while doing the reset. You should also try doing the reset from the recovery mode.

Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. You will need to check first if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might already be caused by a faulty battery. In this case you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Will Not Charge Gets Hot

Problem: Hi droid guy. Charged my S6 in my car after a complete battery drain. It charged and then it went off. Now it’s not coming on or charging anymore. While plugged it gets hot at the top.

Solution: A phone that gets unusually hot when charging is a potentially dangerous issue that needs to be checked at a service center. There are however some troubleshooting steps that you can do which we have listed below prior to resolving to sending the phone to a service center.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger
  • If the phone does not charge then try charging from a computer USB port. If your phone charges this way then one of the pins of the charging port might be damaged. You will need to have this checked.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might already be caused by a hardware component that is failing to work. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Will Not Charge

Problem: Phone will not charge using every charger type including original Samsung charger. Tried rebooting phone twice, including leaving turned off for several minutes. (Internal non-removable battery.)

Related Problem: New galaxy S6 will not charge. It is now completely dead. I did not know how to do the reset since the battery is not removable. How can I get it to charge? Please help

Related Problem: Fast charging isn’t working when connected to the Samsung fast charger. Even when it is connected to a fast or a regular charger, it doesn’t fully charge.

Solution: What you will want to do in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in the port. Next, perform a simulated battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. Once the phone restarts try charging it again. You should use different charging cords and wall chargers if the phone does not charge the first time around.

In case the issue persists then it’s likely that the charging port might be damaged. Bring this phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Keeps On Rebooting

Problem: My Galaxy S6 keeps rebooting like it’s in a loop, the home screen is available for about 30 secs before it restarts. Really need to get my photos off the phone before doing a factory reset.

Solution: Try starting your phone in Safe Mode. If you are able to access this mode then you will be able to make a backup copy of your photos. The issue is also most likely caused by a downloaded app if the phone starts in this mode. You will have to find out what app is causing the problem and uninstall it.

In case you are unable to start the phone in Safe Mode then you should consider starting the phone in recovery mode then from here perform a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

S6 Black Screen With Blue LED Light After Phone Fell

Problem: Phone fell out of pocket onto floor from attic. It now won’t turn on, but has a blue light, and the screen will flash every once and  awhile

Related Problem: hi I have a Samsung galaxy s6 active for at@t I dropped a few times but worked fine until I did again and now the screen is black with only a blue light in the top left. I’m not sure what to do to fix it as it wont let me reset or go to recovery mode at all.

Solution: It looks like the display might have been damaged by the drop. The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then the problem might just be caused by a software glitch. You will then need to perform a factory reset in this mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. In case the screen does not work in this mode then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Charger Gets Too Hot

Problem: Hi! I have a Galaxy S6 which I LOVE! however, the charger keeps getting very HOT to touch and smells hot. Taking hours to charge.

Solution: When charging the phone the charger is expected to generate dome amount of heat. If the charger gets too hot then this is not normal anymore. I would recommend that you use a different charger and charging cord to charge your phone as the charger you are using is most likely faulty already.
