S6 Screen Won’t Go To Sleep

Problem: Hi! My phone has been having an issue for a little while now. I have a Galaxy S6 and the screen won’t go to sleep. If I press the power button to turn the screen off it goes off then immediately comes back on. Sometimes it will randomly stop doing it for an hour or so then starts doing it again. I’ve deleted every app off of my phone and it still did it, I’ve updated it a couple times since it started and it didn’t help either. Do you know how to fix this?

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to check if some app that you downloaded is causing the problem. To do this just start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then an app that you installed could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is then uninstall it.

If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you will need to perform the following steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data
  • Perform a factory reset.

In case the issue still occurs after a factory reset then you will need to have the phone checked at a service center as this could already be a hardware related problem.

S6 Recent Apps Button Not Working After Phone Dropped

Problem: I had dropped my phone and my recent apps button no longer was working I did a system update on my phone and the button started working again with the minor defect of it popping off and on whenever it wants which is about every 5 Seconds making the screen glitch and next to impossible to use the phone is there anything I can do to fix it

Solution: Does your phone have a screen protector or case installed? If it does then try removing it first as this could interfere with how the recent apps button of the phone works.

If your phone does not have a case or screen protector installed or if the issue still occurs when both are removed then you will want to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This reset will allow you to check if a software glitch is causing this problem. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this button might have been damaged by the drop.

S6 Screen Is Unresponsive

Problem: Screen goes unresponsive. When i turn off screen and back on, it comes on dim and unresponsive. After push left button to turn off screen, i have to wait about 1-2 minutes for it to be working again.

Related Problem: My phone freezes and despite all suggestions and tips about holding down different keys does not move off the “Installing Update”. It has been freezing on various reboot screens for the last 3 hours

Solution: It’s possible that this issue is just caused by some software glitch. Follow the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem. After performing a step immediately check if the issue still occurs. If it still does then you should proceed to the next step.

  • Check if an app you downloaded is causing this problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Screen Is Completely Black

Problem: My brand new Samsung galaxy s6 quit working within a month of buying it. The screen is completely black, but everything else seems to work fine. Even the invisible buttons light up. There are hairline cracks under the screen but I doubt this was the cause. Please help!

Solution: If your phone is still getting notifications and everything else works except the screen then it’s very likely that the display is damaged. To further check if this is the case you will need to start the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then the problem might just be caused by a software glitch in which case you will need to perform a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. If the screen is still black even if you start it in recovery mode then you need to have the display checked at a service center.

S6 Stuck In Downloading Do Not Turn Off Target Screen After Getting Wet

Problem: I have a S6 which got drenched in the rain . I brought it inside removed the protective back case and wiped it as dry as I could It also has tempered glass front I took out my SIM card then I put in bag of rice it made a few crackling noises and a blue screen came on it says downloading do not turn off target And on top left hand corner it says Factory mode in red I don’t know what to do to restore it back Please help I am very careful and this is the first time something like this has happened to me.

Solution:  When you see the downloading do not turn off target screen on your phone this means that the device has been started in download mode. If you didn’t manually access this mode and it just automatically appeared then it means that the software might be corrupt possibly due to the phone getting wet. What you need to do right now is to turn off the phone then place it in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once this is done turn on the phone then check if it still gets stuck in download mode. If the issue persists then try turning off the phone then start it in recovery mode. From here you will need to perform a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Freezes At Password Screen

Problem: Phone freezes at password. I cannot use the fingerprint (does not react), when clicking on “backup password” the line appears but no onscreen keyboard appears. I have to restart to get it going (for some reason after some update I cannot use fingerprint anymore after restarting). Happens constantly now, some days all day long. Some days it works ok.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete immediately check if the issue still occurs. If it does then we could be looking at a hardware related problem. You will then need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

S6 Screen Is Black Gets Hot When Charged

Problem: Phone screen turned black and overheated, I tried rebooting it but it never came on, every time I plug the charger in the battery symbol appear but the phone start getting hot and won’t charge, I took it the a phone shop to be looked at, the gentlemen told me it was a software issue.

Solution: The fact that the phone is overheating and gets hot when you charge it means that this is most likely caused by a hardware component that is failing to work. The usual suspect in this case is a faulty battery. It’s also possible that a short circuit one one of the components is causing the problem. I suggest that you bring this phone to a service center and have it checked.
