S6 No Sound When Receiving Text Messages

Problem: I have a galaxy s6, my issue is that my phone is only vibrating when I get a message instead of a ringtone, I’ve check repeatedly and it’s settings are correctly set but there’s no sound when I get a message other than a vibrate sound and I’m missing messages bcuz I dnt hear my phone ringing?

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to check the notification settings of the phone.

  • From a Home screen navigate to the Apps icon then go to Messages.
  • Tap the Menu icon
  • Tap Settings
  • Tap the Notifications switch to turn on
  • Tap Notifications.
  • Tap Notification sound then select an option
  • Tap the back button

Once this is done make sure that the phone is not set in silent mode by pressing the volume up button until the volume level is maxed out.

In case the issue still persists then I suggest that you perform the additional steps listed below.

  • Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Stuck In Boot Loop

Problem: My Samsung S6 would not reboot. This started two days ago. when plugged in, it shows the battery is full 100%; but try to turn it on, only the Samsung intro comes on and repeats itself, and the phone does not reboot. How can this be fixed? I did not save all my photos in the cloud; can these be retrieved, and if so, how? Thanks

Solution: If you are concerned about losing your phone data then the troubleshooting steps listed below will not delete your data.

  • Try pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the device. Restart your phone after this.

In case the issue persists then you should consider doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will delete your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to have the phone checked at a service center.

S6 Stuck In Blinking Logo After Getting Wet

Problem: Dropped my S6 in water a few months ago.  Dried it out but it would no longer power up.  Replaced it with an S7, but kept the old phone.  Have plugged it in to a USB port on my computer and it will now flash the charging battery icon, but no red or green charging status light.  I tried to power up in Safe Mode (Power & Volume Down) with no success.  I then tried the Basic (Power, Home & Volume Up) procedure and it now flashes the “Samsung Galaxy S6″ logo, as well as the “POWERED BY android” at the bottom of the screen.  This just continues to flash on an off as long as the phone is plugged in.  Screen goes blank when I disconnect it.  Any ideas?  Could it be a simple as a fried battery that shorted out when it got wet?  Don’t know my android version.

Solution: It looks like this issue is caused by a shorted internal component which might be the power IC. It could also be  caused by a water damaged battery. The best way to diagnose this problem is to have it checked at a service center so that the exact component that is damaged can be pinpointed.

S6 Searching for Service After Software Update

Problem: Hello, here is a puzzle for you.  I bought a new samsung galaxy s6 unlocked verizon compatible phone.  I got all set up with tracfone and simply delighted with my new phone, this was in may 2017.  Last week, I plugged my phone into my computer to get some pictures imported, and a verizon update popped up on my computer and let the update proceed. took about 40 mins to update.  Used my phone and calls wouldn’t send, texts wont send or receive, keep saying searching for service, message failed, message pending.  After I made a phone call, its like that opened the door for calls and text to send and receive.  What happened??  what did the software update change??  was it even a real update from verizon??  I have tried to call tracfone, they don’t know, I talked with samsung, they said its a carrier issue and verizon won’t talk to me because i’m not a customer.  I found a local cell phone repair shop and they are stumped at how to fix this issue.  So, Im thankful for you to listen, and would be so excited if you emailed back with a simple solution, or any solution.. 🙂  thank you for listening.

Solution: It’s very likely that the update has changed some settings on the phone preventing it from being used on Tracfone. What you should do first in this case is to check the network settings that your phone is using then try changing this to a setting where the phone will work.

  • From the Home screen go to Apps – Settings –  Mobile Networks.
  • Tap Network mode.
  • Try Global, LTE/CDMA, LTE/GSM/UMTS

If the issue persists then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Not Charging

Problem: Hello, I have a samsung galaxy S6. I woke up today and found my mobile only at 50% and it wasn’t charging. Only to discover that my cable charger has been damaged. And since that time, when i plug my mobile to any charger, it takes around 6-7 hours to charge. It won’t recognize any usb port, or when connected to a pc. i tried everything possible, cleaning the port, safe mode reset, tried  5 different chargers, nothing happens. when i thought that my port was damaged, i took it to the service repair, and they told me that it is motherboard problem and not the port, and it could not be repaired. I am not convinced by that, so i would like to check if there is anything else i can do before buying a new one. Thanks.

Solution: The damaged charging cord might have damaged a component inside the phone which could be the power IC. You can have this IC checked and if it is found to be damaged have this replaced with a new one.

S6 Has Damaged Charging Port

Problem: My S6 stopped charging with wireless charging pad.    I also can no longer charge with USB, appears that some of the “prongs” are broken in the port,  because I can not connect micro usb. Any ideas on what I can do?

Solution: I highly recommend that you have the charging port of the phone replaced at a service center.

S6 Taking Screenshot

Problem: When received a long text message, it goes to “view all”. I’ve read about a lot of the issues that have been submitted to you but my problem isn’t that I can’t see the message once I click “view all”. It’s that I legally need to gather screenshots of my messages. When taking a continuous/scrolling screenshot, it is pointless when there is a long message that says “view all” at the end. I then have to stop the screenshot, open the message and then screenshot that, go back and continue. It’s a pain and with the way the message opens up, it cannot easily be determined who sent the message, therefore, defeating the purpose of a screenshot. Might be a minor problem to some, but it has become a huge headache for me. I just want to see all of the message, the way it used to be prior to the update. I’ve even gone out and got an iPhone to see if I like it better because it doesn’t have this issue. Can you help?

Solution: Try downloading a third party app from the Google Play Store that can take continuous screenshots. One app that is popular is the Stitch & Share app.
