Samsung Galaxy S6 Freezes On Startup Screen

Back in 2015 #Samsung changed the way they made their flagship phone with the #Galaxy #S6. This is their first premium phone which uses a metal frame with glass on the back and front. This new design change means that the battery is no longer user replaceable. The phone comes equipped with a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display, an octa core processor with 3GB of RAM, and a 16MP camera just to name a few. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S6 freezes on startup screen issue & other related problems.

S6 Freezes On Startup Screen

Problem: Phone tells me system update is ready. I run the update with the phone plugged in. Preparation goes to 100%. Phone reboots to Android system blue screen and completes installation at 100%. Phone reboots, freezes on Verizon splash screen 4 several minutes, then return to home screen. Message says updating Android. Then it starts all over again. The message about a system update being available now shows up on the screen. I’ve attempted this 5 times and the update will not seem to fully complete.

Solution: One of the main reasons why the phone freezes on the startup screen then reboots is becauses of a glitch in the phone software. It could be due to some bad data or a bug. The best way to fix this is to proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below. Take note that after performing the steps listed your phone data will be deleted.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • While still in recovery mode perform a factory reset.

In case the issue still occurs after performing the steps listed above then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated firmware file using Odin. You can get the file from the Sammobile website which should also have the instructions on how to flash your phone.

If the issue persists then you should definitely have this checked at a service center.

S6 Frozen On Samsung Screen

Problem: I held the home button to ask Google a question then my screen went black. It was in the charger at the time. I held the power button to turn it back on. It seemed to be going through the process normally. Now it is frozen on the “SAMSUNG Galaxy S6 Powered by android” screen that normally appears during a restart. I have tried holding the power button and the volume button together several times. Sometimes it resets but freezes as the word SAMSUNG appears. I plugged it into charger but got no response.

Solution: For this particular problem the first thing you will need to do is to make sure that the phone battery has sufficient charge. To do this follow the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger.
  • In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.
  • Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons.

If the problem still persists then try doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

In case the above steps doesn’t fix the problem then you should have this checked at a service center.

S6 Restarts After It Is Unlocked

Problem: Normally my Galaxy S6 restarts as I unlock my phone. But the restart is not like a complete manual restart i.e the display turn off and SAMSUNG comes with the restart setup and even there is written on the lock screen that, “Your phone has been restarted for now enter the Password to unlock then later on you can use you fingerprint” As soon as I unlock the mobile it resumes from where It was restarted. Please Tell me a solution I can’t afford to lose Galaxy S6. I had installed its software but the same problem even I had Reset the factory. Mobile: Galaxy S6. Version: Android 7.0 Nougat

Solution: It’s possible that this is caused by an app you downloaded. To check if this is the case you should start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the problem occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the problem still occurs in Safe Mode then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. You should try to check first if the issue still occurs and if it does then you will need to have this checked at a service center.

S6 Will Not Turn On After Flashing Custom Logo

Problem: Help, Please help. I have a Samsung S6 flat 920F.   I had successfully installed  the custom Lineage 14.1 rom without any issue.   I then tried to flash a custom boot logo with TWRP.  I can send the .zip I used and now the phone will not turn on.  I can only get the phone to go into Odin mode.   Once in Odin mode, I have tried the following: 0

1) Flashed the stock bootloader..( BL-G920F-XXU3DPBK-BOOTLOADER  Did not work)

2) Flashed another stock bootloader    (BL_G920IDVU3EPC7_CL7315840_QB8920599_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5 did not work)

3) Flashed the stock rom. G920FXXU5EQJB_G920FH3G5EQJ1_G920FXXU5EQJ6_HOME.tar.md5 still does not work.

The only thing I can do on this is boot the phone into odin mode….

Please can you give me any suggestions of what to do next? Many thanks

Solution: The best thing to do right now is to download a fresh copy of the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website then attempt to flash it again. If this fails then you should have this checked at a service center.
