S6 Edge Charges Very Slow

Problem: Hi, yesterday my s6 edge (g925f) ran out of power. I didn’t realise that it was low on power so i turned it back on, it lasted a minute or so and turned off again. I tried charging it when i go home and although it does charge it’s very, very slow. The 1st part of the charge (the fastest part of the charge, 10 – 15mins) gives you about 30% battery, but now the 1st 15mins gives me about 4% battery. I’ve tried reboot, deleting cache, booting to safe mode but unfortunately nothing has changed. I don’t own another phone or a computer so it’s rather a necessity for me. Its Android 601 and is factory unlocked. I’ve never had any problems whatsoever with it before and it’s about 18months old. Any help or advice you could give me to save me having to pay for a repair shop to look at it would be very much appreciated! Many thanks in advance

Solution: There are several factors that can be causing this slow charging issue that you are experiencing with your phone right now. The first thing that you should check is the charging port of your phone as well as the charging cord that you are using. Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. When charging the phone you should try to use a different charging cord. Since this cord gets easily damaged this is the first step thing that you need to check. If the phone still charges slowly then try using a different wall charger.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset.  This will allow you to check if the phone software is causing the problem. Make sure to backup your phone data first before doing the reset.

Should the issue still persist at this point then it’s time to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as the problem could already be caused by a faulty battery.

S6 Edge Not Charging After Phone Got Wet

Problem: Hi, I took my Samsung S6 edge with me when i went to the beach and some water touched it. i tried putting it in rice to see if it could help.(it didn’t) So i took it to a local technician he opened the phone up and the battery had swell and he told me i would need a new battery so i bought one but after he had fixed it in i tried charging the phone but it wasn’t charging. It would literally go to 5% then go back to 1% or it could charge to maybe 75% then drain back to 0%. The phone is turning on but the battery is just not lasting and we tried putting another battery inside and it’s still not working. Please is there anything i can do to fix this problem

Solution: It looks like some other component aside from the battery  got water damaged. This could be the charging IC or the charging port assembly. I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center that does board level repairs.

S6 Edge Not Turning On After Getting Wet

Problem: Samsung S6 edge The phone fell in water and turned off by itself. I have put it in rice for more than one day and tried to start it but with no luck. Plugged it in the charger and the screen turned on showing the battery icon and then switches off. I opened the phone back cover and took it into pieces and made sure it is dry by using a hair dryer (did not apply much heat in order not to damage the internals). After assembly, I was able to start the phone by only plugging it in the charger but it went into bootloop. I did factory reset was able to start the phone but once unplugged from the charger, the phone will switch off. I thought that I forgot to connect the battery so I re-opened the phone and found that the battery is connected. I removed the battery and checked the voltage coming from it to be 3.8v using a multimeter which shows that the battery is in good condition. So, now i can only use the phone when its plugged in the charger but once disconnected, it will switch off. Please advice.

Solution: It appears that the power IC of the phone has shorted when it came into contact with water. In most cases where the phone only works when it is connected to its charger it is a defective  power IC that’s causing the problem. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have this checked.

S6 Edge Not Turning On After Overnight Charge

Problem: My phone got discharged completely so i put it on charger (switched off) and left it for charging overnight. when i woke up in the morning i saw it blinking and showing it’s 100% charged. i removed it from charge and pressed the power key but it doesn’t turn on. the soft reset isn’t working. the LED is not blinking when i am putting it on charge. whenever i try to reset it, the phone gets warm. that’s it. is it a hardware problem?

Solution: Try simultaneously pressing the power button and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. Normally, your phone should reboot after this. If you are still not getting any response from your device then try charging it for at least 20 minutes using a charging cord and wall charger that is know to work. With the phone still connected to its charger try turning it on.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have your phone checked.

S6 Edge Shuts Down On Its Own

Problem: Hello, I ran out of battery power and charged my s6 edge with a power bank. Since then the phone has been shutting down on its own. I have had a technician change the battery and reload the operating system, it’s still behaving the same way. Kindly help with how to fix this problem please.

Solution: What you should do first in this case is to check if some glitch in the phone software is causing the problem by following the troubleshooting steps listed below. After performing a step immediately check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should proceed to the next step.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone is working in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue persists and since you have already tried replacing the phone battery then  this could already be caused by an internal component that is failing to work. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Edge Not Turning On

Problem: When I hold the down button and the power but the reboot options come up but my phone won’t start up past the logo. It keeps going off or acting like it wants to restart. I got a diagnostic and he replaced the screen and the battery and said that wasn’t the problem, and that it was the motherboard. The screen isn’t black but has some sort of purple or blue lines showing when the logo comes up. I really don’t want to lose all my data. Is there a way to get the motherboard fixed and able to retrieve my videos or pictures?

Solution: If this problem is caused by an issue with the motherboard then the only way to retrieve your data is to have the motherboard fixed. I recommend bringing your phone to a service center that does board level repairs as they will be able to pinpoint the exact component in the motherboard that is failing to work and possibly replace this with one that is working.

S6 Edge Turned Off When Using WhatsApp

Problem: Hi there, i was busy typing a whatsapp message and my S6 Edge turned off. Screen went black and turned off when trying to restart it with the power and home button it displays Samsung S6 Edge Android on the screen but nothing else happens. There was still at least 60 % charge on the phone. I have tried the points in your troubleshooting guide so before I take it back to samsung I thought i would check with you guys first

Solution: Try pressing and holding the power and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. If your phone does not restart then connect it to its charger for at least 20 minutes then try turning it on.

If your phone does not turn on then check if you are able to access the recovery mode. From here there are two things that you can do.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone.
  • Do a factory reset. This is to be done if wiping the cache partition fails to work. Take note that this will delete your phone data.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should have your phone checked at a service center.
