S6 Charges Then Stops Issue

Problem: The phone will not charge, it will charge for a little while, then stop and then start again. I have tried different chargers. – Google launcher when I push the home key and sometimes when I push nothing at all.  – The on/off button is not working.

Solution:  When the phone has an intermittent charging issue the usual cause is a disconnection somewhere. Start the troubleshooting by cleaning the charging port of your phone. Make sure that any dirt or debris gets removed. To clean the port use a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. Once the port is clean try charging your phone. If the issue remains then try using a different charging cord.

To eliminate any software issues that could be causing this problem I recommend that you also backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Have your phone checked at a service center if the above steps fail to fix the problem.

S6 Only Charges when Connected To A Laptop

Problem: My phone is unable to charge unless connected to my laptop by a usb cord. My wall charger does not work for my phone even though I’ve used it for months and it still works on other peoples’ phones. I’ve also tried other wall chargers, none of which work.

Solution: There’s a possibility that the issue is caused by a defective pin in the charging port of your phone. This port has separate pins for data transfer, fast charging ( using a wall charger), and slow charging ( using a computer USB port). The fast charging pin might have a problem which is why you are unable to use your wall charger.

Try cleaning the charging port with a can of compressed air or blow into this port using a straw. Your aim is to take out any dirt or debris that could be present in the port. Once the port is clean try charging your phone.

If the issue persists then have your phone checked at a service center. It’s possible that you may need to have the charging port assembly replaced.

S6 Not Fully Charging Turns Off When Not On Charger

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy s6 is just work with the charger, but just charge up to 75%. If I unplug my cell just turn it off it self. I tryed with a wireless Charger but don’t work at all, and is showing on the screen blinks with a black battery for a few seconds.

Solution: It’s possible that the phone battery is causing this issue. You will need to have this battery replaced. Since this phone doesn’t have a user replaceable battery I suggest that you bring this to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Wouldn’t Charge

Problem: yesterday morning my phone was charging fine, it charged to 100%, then i used the battery, it got down to 7% so i turned it off until i could charge it. when i plugged it in and turned it on it wouldn’t charge, I got it to get up to 20% but then it fell again and wouldn’t hold a charge. I left it in the charger for over an hour and it didn’t do anything, so i put it on a wireless charger and it charged to 21% and stopped. it hasn’t been around anything magnetic, as far a i’m aware.

Solution: Let’s try to check first if the phone software is causing this problem by doing a simulated battery pull. To do this simultaneously hold down the power key and volume down key for at least 10 seconds. The phone should reboot after this. Once the phone has rebooted try charging your phone again. Make sure to clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air before charging it. You might also want to use a different charging cord when charging your phone.

If the issue still occurs I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will allow you to check if the phone software is causing this issue. Once the reset is complete try charging your phone again. If the issue still occurs then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. It’s possible that you might need to have the battery of your phone replaced.

S6 Won’t Charge After Running Out Of Charge

Problem: Phone approx 14 months old. Phone functioning perfectly. Battery ran out of charge. Won’t charge since. When plugging in charger grey battery with lightning symbol appears. Nothing happens and screen goes black. Phone will turn on briefly but battery registers as 0 percent. If you turn on phone then insert charger it does not recognise it (the battery symbol on the top right hand corner doesn’t change) then phone dies again. Tried cleaning charger port. Left on charge for a couple of hours and still the same. I’ve tried simulating battery pull to no avail. Can it be fixed without losing data? Due to only powering up for 10 seconds or so i can’t retrieve pics e.t.c

Solution: Since you have already tried cleaning the charging port I recommend that you try using a different charging cable and wall charger next. If this doesn’t work then you need to have your phone checked at a service center since this problem could either be caused by a faulty charging port or battery.

S6 Not Turning On After Getting Wet

Problem: I put my phone in a plastic bag and took it to the beach to try taking photos underwater at first it was dry but then water leaked in and I didn’t realize that the Galaxy s6 shut down and started to overheat. I dried it then put it in rice for the rest of the day and a whole night I tried turning it on and it won’t respond. I don’t know what to do anymore.

Solution: You did the correct thing by placing your phone in a bag of rice to absorb the moisture inside your phone. Since the phone still does not respond then it’s very likely that some component inside your phone got water damaged. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Does Not Turn On

Problem: The phone was working earlier in the evening, my wife put it on the charger and later is was just off.  It won’t turn on, doesn’t register I am pressing the power button and doesn’t recognize the charger is plugged into it. I took it to the AT&T store, they couldn’t get it to turn on either. Took it to a cell phone repair place, they checked the on/off button and tried a new battery… but nothing worked. We really need the contacts off this phone, any other ideas?

Solution: This problem could be caused by a certain component inside your phone that has failed to work. If you know of any service center that can do board level repairs then bring your phone there. Have the power IC of your phone checked as I suspect that this might be busted and is causing the problem.

S6 Not Responding Not Turning On

Problem: I have Samsung s6 and this morning it had at least 85% battery. I had been on Facebook and had sent and received a couple of whatsapp messages. .All fine. I went to use my phone later this morning and it would not respond. I tried holding down the volume down key and the contact key which worked before when the phone has died on previous occasion. .but this did nothing. I have tried to charge on original charger and other chargers but still nothing. It has got hot but even when cooled still nothing.

Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air then charge it again. Try turning your phone on. If it doesn’t respond then check if you can turn on you phone in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then I recommend doing a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data.

If the above steps don’t work then you should have your phone checked at a service center as this might already be a hardware related problem.
