Samsung Galaxy S6 Charges Very Slow Issue & Other Related Problems

When your #Samsung #Galaxy #S6 runs out of battery power the first thing that comes into mind is to charge it. The good thing about this device is that you won’t have to wait a long time to use the phone since it supports fast charging. S6 Charges Very Slow

Problem: I’ve recently bought Samsung s6 (AT&T carrier) smartphone. It is working fine. The battery time is ok too. But it charges very slow. It almost takes around 5 minutes to charge 1%. It almost take more than 6 hours to get completely charge. I have tried a hard reset and low Battery dump on/off (tried both by dialing *#9900#) but did not get any success. I have tried different chargers too but of no use. Charger normally outputs 2.0 v. Please suggest me some practical solution. It has lollipop installed.

Solution: Getting a full charge when charging the phone for more than 6 hours is indeed quite a long time. The device should fully charge using the Adaptive Fast Charging charger in less than two hours. This means that if your phone is charging slowly there’s something wrong with it. Performing a factory reset is a good troubleshooting step since it allows you to verify if the problem is software related. Since this doesn’t appear to help in this case then I suggest you perform the following steps listed below. Check if the issue still occurs after performing each step then move to the next one if the problem remains.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone. Sometimes dirt or debris stuck in this port can cause charging problems. Use a can of compressed air or blow into the port using a straw to take out any dirt or debris that may be lodged in the port.
  • Try using a different charging cord. This cord gets easily broken especially if it is constantly coiled or bent and the one you are using right now might already be damaged.
  • Try using another Adaptive Fast Charging charger.

If the above steps fail then I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center as this could already be a hardware issue. It could be cause by a defective charging port or a faulty battery.

S6 Charge Does Not Reach 100%

Problem: Hi, my phone stops charging before it reaches 100 percent. It usually stops somewhere between 50-80 percent, and when it stops it says “1 minute to fully charged”. I have tried different chargers with same result. I have also tried charging in safe-mode, but that didn’t work neither. It has been like this for 10 days now.

Solution: Try discharging your phone until it turns off on its own. Once this is done charge your phone using its wall charger ( take note that the phone is off at this point). Once the phone is fully charged turn it on then check if the meter reads 100%. If it doesn’t then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Check if the issue still occurs after performing each step. Move to the next step if the problem remains unresolved.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it.
  • Charge the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue still occurs after performing the steps listed above then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Use The Orignal Charger Error

Problem: I realize there is probably a thread about this already so I appologize: My phone is charging slowly and says “use the original charger” when I am using a Samsung factory charger. I can’t tell if the charger is loose or broken. it does charge just very slowly all of a sudden after overheating. And then if you move the phone slightly it does the signal like when you first plug it in by the charger. So I think it may be a connection problem. I hope I am explaining this well.

Solution: When you get this kind of error message it usually means that the phone is not getting the recommended power from the charger. Listed below are the steps that you need to do to fix the problem.

  • Try cleaning the charging port of your phone. Sometimes dirt or debris stuck in the port can cause this issue. Use a can of compressed air or blow into the port using a straw. Once the port is clean try charging the phone.
  • Try using a different charging cord when charging the phone.
  • Try using a different wall charger.
  • To eliminate any software problems that could cause this issue you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue still persist even after following the steps listed above then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Keeps On Freezing

Problem: Good day. I only wanted to ask if how would I know if my phone is suffering from a hardware or battery problem. I’m using a Samsung Galaxy S6 and it freezes every time (Randomly). Now if I charge it while the phone is turned off, it will show this big battery and the percentage of the charge. For some reason it will also freeze and I have to do a force restart. Even at recovery mode it will freeze. I’ve been trying to isolate the problem and here are the things that i’ve done: Cleared the cache Restored to factory settings Boot to safe mode Remove all apps that I can remove/disable Run on power saving mode / Ultra power saving mode Installed a stock rom Updated from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1 (problem already happened at 5.1.1) Tried different charger/cables Charging with fast charging on and off Things I haven’t tried: Remove the back cover and check the battery And a follow up question good sir, if I happen to open the back cover and replace the battery, would I need new adhesive for the back cover to fully stick? Are there substitutes if I can’t find OEM adhesives for my phone? Been asking all this question for several months now. Hoping you’d answer and be a great help. Thank you.

Solution: This issue appears to be hardware related already since you already performed most of the troubleshooting steps that needs to be performed in issues such as this. You will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Regarding your question on the phone back cover you will need to purchase an adhesive to place it back again. There is an adhesive that’s specially made to fit this phone model which can be bought for around $2. If you plan on opening your phone and replacing the battery then I recommend you get this adhesive first.

S6 Checking For Water Damage

Problem: I dropped phone in water very briefly.  I powered it down and on reboot it had a green screen that said “Download do not turn off target” I let the battery die since I could not turn it off.  On reboot when plugged in it seems to be fine now. I turned it off just in case and have checked the sim tray to see if there is a red or pink sticker for water damage but I do not see even a white sticker. Is there any other way to see if there is water damage?

Solution: If your phone is working fine right now then there’s a big possibility that it was not affected by the water.

For the S6 you can check if water has entered the device by checking on the Liquid Damage Indicator. This is located inside the SIM tray slot. Remove the SIM tray then view the device with the display facing up and the power key facing you. If the LDI is white then it has not been tripped.

S6 Turns On Then Fades

Problem: So I’ve been fixing my phones myself for awhile now, I’ve gotten pretty good at it but I’m now stumped. I recently just purchased a galaxy s6 and I had it for about 2 months, my puppy got it and it went from working fine with purple spots on the lcd to purple lines to all black the next morning but it still responded to my touch I could still answer calls but I couldn’t see anything. So I ordered a new digitizer with lcd, I was extremely careful while replacing the digitizer and when I did everything and charged it, all that happens now is the LED light comes on and fades from blue to green and back again, no vibration, sound and no display on the screen. I’ve tried rebooting the device and everytime it just does the same thing. Please help I love this phone and I’m trying to avoid having to buy a new one in 2 months time…

Solution: Since this is obviously a hardware issue already you have to check if the replacement display is causing this problem. Try placing back the old display and see if you get the black screen and still get notifications. If you do get this condition then chances are the problem is caused by the replacement display. You might need to get another display to fix this problem.
