S6 Camera Not Focusing Correctly

Problem: When I use the camera it won’t focus correctly. I tap it, it adjusts, then goes slightly out of focus. While it’s adjusting it I can see it go perfectly in focus but it doesn’t stay there. I’ve tried everything I saw on your site to troubleshoot short of a factory reset. I’m not sure how to back it up and I’m nervous about something happening with my apps and games. Is the factory reset what I have to do? Is there something else to try?

Solution: There are other things that you can try first before doing a factory reset which we have listed below.

  • Clean the camera outer lens using a microfiber cloth. Make sure that any grease or smudge present in this lens is removed.
  • Check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.

If the above steps fails to fix the focusing problem of the camera then you will have to do a factory reset next. Use Smart Switch to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If after the reset the same issue occurs then the camera module might be faulty. If this is the case then you will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Front Camera Not Focusing

Problem: My front camera lens cover broke. I bought a new cover and replaced it. Now the camera only focuses at distances. It won’t focus close. In Pro mode manual, I can’t get the focus to move. Could the lens moving mechanism be broken? Could glass from the broken lens cover be in the mechanism? What can be done?

Related Problem: Camera is blurry for rear facing, but not selfie. It worked fine xmas eve xmas day was all blurry and fuzzy. I tried to do a reset and nothing changed. Even did a safe mode. Still nothing. Not happy because I use my camera a lot.

Solution: The troubleshooting steps that you need to perform for this particular case is the same as the one which we have addressed above. If after performing a factory reset the problem still occurs then the front camera assembly might be faulty in which case you need to have this checked at a service center.

S6 Record Button On Camera Is Greyed Out

Problem: I have a Galaxy s6. When I open the camera, either with the quick open or with the app button, it will only let me take still pictures. The record button is grayed out. I’ve looked in settings and can’t figure out what may be causing it. It will still let me record video directly through fb messenger, but I prefer the actual camera app. Thanks for any help!

Solution: Does your phone have sufficient storage space available? If it doesn’t then this might be the reason why this is happening. If your phone has sufficient storage space then this could be an app related issue since you are still able to record a video using the Facebook Messenger app.

Start the troubleshooting by clearing the cache and data of the camera app from the application manager. This will delete the temporary data of the app and reset the app to its default settings. If you are still experiencing the same issue after performing this step then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then an app you installed might be causing this. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

S6 Camera Not Focusing After Phone Got Dropped

Problem: Hello. I dropped my phone and its cracked slightly at the front. And since then my back camera has been adjusting a photo and not being able to focus. I’ll have to close the camera and go back in for it to focus again…. and also at night it seems to be more blurry than usual.

Solution: It’s possible that this problem is caused by the camera module getting damaged when the phone got dropped. The best way to troubleshoot this right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Front Camera Has Condensation After Getting Wet

Problem: I went on a run yesterday and it rained very heavily , i was in the rain for 40 mins before i got back and got drenched. And i came back , and used my phone like normal until i found out there was condensation on the front facing camera so i looked on snapchat and it was fuucked but i didnt put my phone in rice straight away instead , i was looking for info on my phone and letting sc streaks with people to keep them going etc. I also ordered headphones and realised not just the new headphones but other headphones didn’t work in the jack either , over night i put the phone in rice and it’s cleared the front facing camera slightly but jack still not working , what do i do?

Solution: If you have already placed the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours to absorb the moisture and the problem still persists then you will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as the moisture that got inside the phone could be causing this problem.

S6 Freezes Or Reboots When Using The Camera

Problem: My s6 randomly freezes and reboots. Have tried your troubleshoot methods but problem persists. Have narrowed it down to be more likely to occur when using the camera (both the stock and cameras in apps like snapchat or fb). Is there anything i can do to fix this issue or do i need to have it repaired by a professional?

Solution: It’s very likely that the phone has a faulty battery which is causing this problem. The camera of your phone requires more power from the battery for it to be used. If the battery is not able to provide this needed power then it has a tendency to reboot the phone. To check if this is what’s happening right now I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as you might be needing to have the battery replaced.
