S6 Black Gray Horizontal Lines On Screen

Problem: Have a Samsung Galaxy s6 Phone has black & gray horizontal lines on the screen & blue light is on. I tried to hold the power button & volume down button but it won’t even turn off or on. Also, phone is hot. I can’t get anything to work…it keeps displaying the small black & gray lines. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Solution: If your phone won’t turn on or off then what you should do first is to simulate a battery pull. To do this you have to press and hold the power and volume down button for around 20 seconds. This simulates a battery disconnect and should restart your device.

Once your phone restarts and you still see the black and gray horizontal lines then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. This way you will be able to check if the issue is caused by an app you downloaded since only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode. If the issue does not occur when the phone is in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This erases the temporary system data which could be causing this issue.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If after performing the steps listed above the issue still occurs then this might be caused by a defective display. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Black Screen

Problem: Galaxy S6.  The screen has what looks like black paint that very slowly seeps down covering the screen so that I can’t see anything. The phone works fine, but without a screen it’s difficult to guess where to touch the screen. In the space of 24 hours 2/3 of the screen is now black. The phone has not been dropped or exposed to water.

Solution: This type of issue usually occurs when the display has been damaged caused by some pressure exerted to it. You should however try to check if this is a software issue by starting the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works normally in this mode then I suggest that you do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding. If however the issue still occurs even in recovery mode then you might need to have the display replaced at a service center.

S6 Screen Is Black After Drop

Problem: I dropped my phone, and since then the screen has been black, although the upper right quadrant will flash occasionally. I performed a reboot by holding the volume down/power/home keys simultaneously, and since then the led at the top of the screen has been stuck as a constant blue, and the screen is still occasionally flashing.

Related Problem: My phone fell from my bed and landed on the floor, but once I checked it wouldn’t turn on. Once it did a black/purple spot appeared a I haven’t been able to use the touchscreen from the time display down.

Solution: It’s very likely that the display has been damaged by the drop. To check if this is the case you should try to start the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then the problem could just be caused by a software glitch in which case a factory reset is recommended. Take note that this erases your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy. If the screen is still black even in recovery mode then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. It’s possible that you will need to replace the whole display assembly or the problem might just be caused by a loose connection between the screen and the motherboard.

S6 Capacitive Buttons Blinking

Problem: Hi, I have a Samsung S6 32GB, the problem is when I turn on the screen, the “back” and “recent apps” capacitive buttons start blinking (they work well), but the screen doesn’t respond properly and the phone runs slow, like per frames. I have done a hard reset and start It on safe mode, but It keeps happening the same.

Solution: If a factory reset doesn’t fix the problem then this could already be a hardware related issue possibly caused by a failing internal component. I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center capable of doing board level repairs.

S6 Ghost Touch

Problem: Hi Guys, I have a Samsung Galaxy s6 and having issues on its lcd/screen, it didn’t fell or got wet but suddenly the touch screen is not working fine, it seems like it auto touch and pulls up or open some apps/ specifically it always open the screen where u can see the current apps/screens which are open. need your assistance please. thank you in advance.

Solution:  Does your phone have a screen protector or case installed? Try removing this first as this might be causing the problem. You should also check if an app you installed is causing the problem by starting your phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then this might already be a hardware issue possibly caused by a faulty display assembly. If this is the case I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Screen Not working But Phone Is On

Problem: Hello I dropped my Galaxy s6 active and when I dropped it the screen worked and so I put it in my pocket and when I went to plug it in the screen did not turn on but my phone is on and I know it’s on because the red charging LED was solid.  What is going on. Do I need to send it in to get it fix or is it something that I can get done at home.

Solution: It’s very likely that the display might have been damaged by the drop or its connection to the motherboard has become loose. If this is the case then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. You should however try to start the phone in recovery mode and check if the screen works in this mode. If it does then the problem might just be caused by a software glitch. You will need to do a factory reset in recovery mode to fix the problem. Take note that this will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding.

  1. Yesterday I got a refurbished Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and it has been one day and while I was at the store it I found it completely powered off and when I tried powering it on it had blue and black lined screen like a pattern. It does accept charge and I know that it was charged when I tried powering it back on.
