Samsung Galaxy S5 Screen Won’t Turn On Issue & Other Related Problems

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S5 is one of the smartphone models available in the market that makes use of a Super AMOLED display. This type of display technology allows for images to appear vibrant on the screen since it can process a wide range of colours. It also uses a significantly lower power than a regular LCD screen making it ideal to be used in mobile devices. Although this phone has an excellent display there are still instances when screen related issues can occur which we will be addressing today. S5 Screen Won’t Turn On

Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy 5 and the screen wont come on. Sometimes it does and then when I press the home button it won’t come on or even when I press the power button. Both bottom buttons light up and I can hear the phone working its just the screen. I have done a factory reset but nothing changed. Thanks

Solution: If a factory reset doesn’t fix this issue then it’s very likely that this is a hardware related problem. The possible causes are as follows.

  • The screen could be damaged.
  • The connection between the screen and the phone’s motherboard has become loose.

For this type of issue I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Needs To Be Heated To Turn On

Problem: My Son’s Samsung galaxy S5 screen started having trouble after he wiping some chocolate front the power button side of the mobile. After a week the screen had to be heated up, by hand or some heat source (hair dryer etc.) and then the screen would comes on until it went to sleep again. Where it would sometime comes on using the power button and sometimes the heat would have to be repeated. Have you come up against anything like this, for it’s a bit of pain in the rear end? Any advice or questions would be appreciated.  Thks.

Solution: It’s very likely that the problem hardware related possibly due to the chocolate entering the phone. The phone has to be opened and inspected at a service center to get to know what component is failing.

S5 Flashing Screen On Low Light

Problem: Hi, I have had a Samsung S5 for a little over a year with no problems until recently. I’ve read troubleshooting guides and have had short-lived success in rectifying the green/yellow flicker when the unlock screen pops up. Wiping the cache in recovery mode solves the problem but after using chrome it seems to start up again. I updated Chrome in the play store, in hopes this would somehow help and now I’m experiencing a flashing screen on low-light display (when battery is less than 5%) also. Chrome might be a red-herring here but it’s the only app I use before the issue starts again. Any recommendations on solving this issue would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Solution: Try checking if the issue occurs at less than 5% battery level when the charger is connected to the phone. If it doesn’t occur then the issue could be caused by the battery not being able to supply a stable power to the display making it flash. You can try increasing the brightness level or replace the battery to fix this issue.

If the problem occurs even with a charger connected to the phone then do the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try to check first if a third party app installed in your phone is causing the problem. Start the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then have your phone checked at a service center as this might be a hardware related issue.

S5 Stuck In Black Screen

Problem: my phone is stuck on a black screen, I have tried multiple times to reset my phone. The battery is charged and all the sounds and lights work. The display just remains black the whole time. This has happened before but would return to normal after a few hours, but this time it has been stuck black for 24 hours.

Solution: It’s either the display is damaged or the connection between the display and the phone’s motherboard is loose. To troubleshoot this problem try starting the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then you should do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will delete your phone data. If the screen doesn’t work in this mode then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Flickers Then Goes Black

Problem: I charge my phone overnight with the factory supplied charger. When I go to use my phone in the morning, all of the functions work (notifications, lights, alarm, etc.) But my screen flickers briefly then goes to black. It does this anytime I hit the lock or home button. It usually does this until the power is drained to 95% or less. After that, it works perfect the rest of the day. Suggestions?

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to verify if the phone software is causing this issue. To do this you should backup your phone software then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.

If it does then the problem could be caused by a defective display. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S5 Screen Flashes Darkly Then Shuts Off

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S5 flashes darkly for an instant when it shuts off. The screen was flashing when in low light but I fixed that by adjusting brightness. Now the issue is when I press power the screen flickers uncomfortably and I can see like a posterized (reverse image) of my screen darkly. Then it is black. And with repeated presses of the power button, the phone will light up normally. The problem is intermittent and just manifested itself today and after I adjusted the brightness setting to correct the low light flickering. I have powered down twice. I have not done a factory reset.

Solution: Try checking first if an app installed in your phone is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Check if the issue occurs. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is then uninstall it. If the problem occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you do a factory reset. This will erase your phone data so make sure to make a backup copy first.

S5 Screen Is Rolling Up

Problem: Hi i have a Samsung S5 active screen is only scrolling up like it’s crazy cant use phone we reset phone to factory settings but same problem any advice on it to resolve this problem

Solution: It’s possible that the display is damaged and needs to be replaced. For this issue I recommend that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Has Turqouise Line

Problem: When I turn on the device a turquoise line shows up on the left hand side of the screen and this stays on the screen throughout my phone being switched on. It even shows up when the device is about to fully power off.

Solution: Try checking if the same line appears when your phone is started in recovery mode. If it isn’t showing in recovery mode then this might be caused by a software glitch. Try doing a factory reset to fix this issue. Take note that you should backup your phone data before doing the reset. If the issue occurs even in recovery mode then it’s possible that the display is damaged. I suggest that you have this checked at a service center.
