The #Samsung #Galaxy #S5 is one of the older generation flagship models of the company that sports one feature not found in current flagships and that is a removable battery. Released in 2014, this device is still being used by a lot of people today owing to the fact that its hardware is still powerful enough to run on the latest Android Marshmallow version. While the phone is already showing signs of age certain issues will regularly occur now. One issue which we will tackle today is the Galaxy S5 resets when taken off charger issue & other related problems.

S5 Resets When Taken Off Charger
Problem: My phone has 100%, but continues to reset itself as soon as I take it off my charger. It’s gotten to the point where it doesn’t even come on off the charger, but instead it just replays the samsung screen over and over until I either take the battery out or plug it into a charger. This just started yesterday after a couple days of random resets when my phone would get under 30%.
Solution: There are two troubleshooting procedures that you can do for this type of issue and you can perform any of them first.
One thing that comes into mind when this issue occurs is that the phone has a faulty battery. To check if this is the case you need to get a new battery and try using it.
Another thing to consider is that this issue is caused by a glitch in the phone software. To check if this is the case you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in our phone just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.
If the above steps don’t fix the problem then there might be an internal component in your phone that’s failing and causing this problem. I suggest you have this checked at a service center if this is the case.
S5 Not Charging But Gets Warm
Problem: Hey guys, I put my S5 on charge just like usual last night. I woke up this morning and the phone is dead. It will not charge. The icon won’t even come on to show its charging. The phone will get warm when plugged in like it’s charging. I’ve gone through all the simple stuff such as battery and sd card removal and discharging the capacitors. I changed chargers and wall sockets. It has been on charge a while with no change. What do you think?
Solution: If your phone gets warm then it’s getting a charge from the charger however the phone isn’t recognizing it. Try cleaning the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. Make sure to take out any dirt or debris that could be present in this port. Next, try using a different charging cord and wall charger when charging your phone. If the issue remains then try to check if the battery is causing this problem by replacing it with a new one.
If the issue still persists at this point you will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Does Not Start
Problem: so, i purchased this galaxy s5 active unlocked off ebay, when on the charger it rapidly charges and stops charging the phone in short spurts. when i try to turn the phone on it starts loading, but before i can actually do anything it goes instantly off. when not on the charger it wont respond at all, if i turn it on on the charger then unplug it it instantly dies even though its half charged, i’ve yet to actually use it, and i’ve tried everything i can on here to fix it minus factory reset because i don’t know if it will mess up it being unlocked. if you have any ideas for me id be grateful to you, thanks, fyi since i’ve yet to use it idk wat the *version* is i just picked one so i could send this lol
Solution: You should try getting a new battery for this phone to check if the present battery is causing this problem. If the issue still occurs with a new battery installed then I recommend that you do a factory reset. This won’t affect the unlock status of your phone. You might have to perform the reset in recovery mode if you are unable to do it in the normal mode since the phone won’t boot up. Once the reset is done try to check if the issue still occurs.
If the issue still occurs at this point then you should consider returning the phone or have it checked at a service center.
S5 Only Charges In Recovery Mode
Problem: I have an s5 that will not charge under normal circumstances unless it is in recovery or odin mode.. I have tried all the basic tasks including a factory reset which haven’t fixed the problem, i cant find any similar issues and was wondering if you could give me a few pointers to try, if possible without trying custom firmware Thanks 🙂 only if possible
Solution: There are several factors that you need to check that could cause his issue. Let’s list them below and check if one of them is the culprit. Make sure to clean the charging port of your phone by using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw before doing any of the steps below.
- A charger that’s not providing the right output to the phone can cause this issue. Try using a different charger
- A faulty charging cord can also cause this kind of issue. Try replacing the charging cord.
- Try to check if the battery is causing this problem by replacing it with a new one.
- Is your phone still running on its stock firmware? If it’s running on a custom firmware then I recommend that you flash the stock firmware back to your device.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I recommend that you have this phone checked at a service center.
S5 Doesn’t Turn On After Charging
Problem: So I have this s5 and I’ve had it on the charger for at least 6 hours . When I try to power it up it just vibrates for about a second while I’m holding down the power button and the screen never comes on the notification light did flash blew a couple of times but hasn’t since. Do u think u can help?
Solution: For this type of issue the first thing that you should do is to take out the battery and microSD card ( if your phone has one installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. After performing this step reinsert just the battery then check if the phone will turn on. If it doesn’t then try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris that could be present in this port. Once this is done charge the phone and make sure that you see the charging indicator. If no charging indicator is present then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. If the phone doesn’t charge or turn on then try getting a new battery.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Use Original Charger Error
Problem: Samsung S5 all the sudden says to use original charger and will not charge my phone. I am using the original charger. Verizon had no clue what to do. On occasion it will charge for a bit but the error message still comes back on and won’t charge.
Solution: This error occurs when the phone detects that the output current of the charger isn’t within its acceptable range. This is sort of a protection to prevent the battery and phone from being damaged in the long run. Sometimes dirt or debris stuck in the charging port can cause this issue. Try cleaning the charging port first using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. One last troubleshooting step you should consider is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset to check if a software glitch is causing the issue.
S5 Not Charging Unless Phone Is Restarted
Problem: Samsung s5 have a android issue. The phone will not charge until the phone is restarted. When the phone is off a icon question mark is showing on battery. Just by restarting the phone it’s starts to change. But the battery icon is not showing any indication of charging when restarted. I believe that the android is falling and need a new update. Please help.
Solution: You should try getting a new battery first as it seems like the present battery is already defective.
If the issue still persists after using a new battery then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step should the issue still occur.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it.
- Try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the issue still occurs after performing the steps listed above then I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center.
S5 Battery Drains Quickly Gets Hot
Problem: Sometimes my phone doesn’t charge well, I connect it like 15% an hour later I check it’s at 20%. Sometimes it gets really hot while charging or just while using it. Sometimes it fully charges but then the battery drains quickly while not even on use. Tried changing chargers but like I said when I do it fully charges but later it get hot n battery dies within couple of hours not like before. Lately it’s been heating up too much while on use too.
Solution: This appears to be caused by a faulty battery. Try getting a new battery first then see if the issue gets fixed. If it doesn’t then backup your phone data and do a factory reset to check if this is caused by a glitch in the phone software.
If the issue still persists at this point then you should have your phone checked at a service center.

Problem: I figured out this morning that me samsung s5 phone is completely off. it has much battery last night so i didn’t charge it. but when i plugged it in to charge it, the red light for charging didn’t light and i tried to turned in on but still i can’t. i do all the possible steps to turned it on and clean the charging port but still it doesn’t help. is there any way i can fix this?
Solution: Try using a different charging cord and wall charger when charging your phone then attempt to turn it on. If there is still no response then try replacing the battery with a new one. If the issue remains you should have this checked at a service center.
