S5 Data Stopped Working
Problem: My Galaxy S5’s data has entirely stopped working. At first it was just continuously losing connection, but turning airplane mode on and off would solve it. Then that stopped working, but turning it off and on again would generally work. Now nothing works and my data won’t come back. I’m using Verizon, but a few of my roommates have Verizon as well with other phones and their data is working fine. I’ve seen suggestions to reset the APN to default but that option is not highlighted in my settings and I’m not sure how to fix any of this at this point. Sidenote: I moved into this apartment (Santa Cruz, CA) 3 weeks ago and have no problems with service until the last few days.
Solution: If the issue disappears after you toggle the airplane mode or restart your phone then this may be caused by some form of corrupt data. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone first and see if this resolves the problem.
You should also check if the issue only occurs in one particular area since if it does then it may be a reception related problem.
Another factor that you should consider is that a certain app you downloaded to your phone is causing the problem. To check if this is the case start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded and installed in your phone are disabled. If you can connect to the Internet without any problems while your phone is in Safe Mode then an app may be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
S5 Data Stops Working Intermittently
Problem: I loose connection on my data intermittently. My phone just stop browsing after like 15 minutes of putting on the data, i have to disconnect and reconnect back to get the phone browsing again.
Solution: This is similar to the problem above. What you need to do first is to wipe the cache partition of your phone to eliminate the possibility of corrupt data causing the problem.
You should also try to check if this problem occurs only in one area. If it does then it may be a network related problem.
S5 Setting Up APN
Problem: I’ll get straight to it. Lately my Straight Talk data plan has been rather slow. And yesterday they send me a message stating that I reached my data allowance limit. My limit is 5GB and I apparently reached the limit at 1.30GB so I knew something was wrong. I called them up and they basically said my APN needed to be updated. So they send me some info via text about certain settings I needed to rename. Unfortunately, I was confused as to whether I was supposed to edit the APN I already had or delete and add a new one. Unfortunately I did indeed delete it and when I went to add a new one with the “+” button nothing happened. Now I am without mobile internet. Please please help.
Solution: Try restarting your phone first. Once your phone has restarted go back to your phone APN settings then check if you can add a new one.
S5 Mobile Data Signal Decreased After Update
Problem: My phone used to stream videos fine. It would also stream PC radio without any interruptions. Now in the last month or so I have 4G LTE with the spark from Sprint. And the signal in a building weather in my home or at work gets less than one bar. When outside the signal strength is not the same now that I have enabled Wi-Fi optimizer. I do not like Wi-Fi optimizer or Wi-Fi calling for the reason I should be using Sprint Network not my own. I would appreciate any help in my signal strength I do believe it was after an update. Thank you in advance for boosting my phone signal and fixing my phone so I can watch Hulu at work again!
Solution: There’s a possibility that this may be a network related issue. Have you tried to check the data signal of your phone in different areas and see if it improves?
If this problem occured right after a software update then it may be caused by conflicts in your phone’s system data. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
