Note 4 Only Works When Connected To Charger
Problem: My note 4 only works when it’s connected to a charger (while re battery is still on). If I unplug my phone it’ll just turn off and on and off and on until the battery dies. I can’t soft reset it or anything because it doesn’t boot up all the way. It just says “galaxy note 4” on the screen then turns right back off. The phone vibrates when it turns off and on. I had the same issue with my Galaxy s3 a couple years back. Any help would be would, I don’t have a warranty and the phone is barely a year old.
Solution: The first thing that you should suspect in this case is that the battery is faulty. If your battery can’t hold its charge anymore then the phone needs to be constantly connected to the charger for it to work. Assuming that this is what is happening right now then you will need to get a new battery and replace the old one that your phone is using.
Just in case the issue still occurs even if the phone is already using a new battery then you need to check if the phone software has anything to do with this issue by performing the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. This will delete the temporary data stored in the phone which could be causing the problem.
- Backup your phone data. Do a factory reset.
If after performing the troubleshooting steps listed above the issue still occurs then I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center as this may already be caused by a faulty hardware component inside the device.
Note 4 Shuts Down Randomly
Problem: Phone will occasionally shut down for no apparent reason. Will not restart by pressing power button. Will restart with power button if connected to charger or if battery is removed and reinserted. Battery has been swapped out and problem still occurs.
Solution: Since you already tried using another battery what you should do next is to check if the phone software is causing this problem by following the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step if the current step you performed fails to solve the issue.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If some form of corrupt temporary data is causing this problem then this will resolve the issue. Restart the phone then check if the issue still occurs.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the issue still occurs even after following the steps listed above then this could already be a hardware related problem. I suggest that you have your phone checked at a service center.
Note 4 Does Not Start
Problem: My Note 4 is not starting up after more than 3 hrs. I did a system reset and is not starting up at all. I did a system reset and error code of gapps not available, so I did a reset on pressing volume up and main button and start button. After following the steps to reboot my phone. Had pass about 3hrs. My note 4 is still in a sleep mode. I am not doing anything to it..as I worry more problem is gonna occur
Solution: What you need to do first is to make sure that the battery is fully charged. To do this follow the steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes. Make sure to use a charging cord that is known to work.
If the issue still occurs try using a new battery on your phone.
If the above step fails try to see if you are able to start your phone in recovery mode. If you can access this mode then I suggest you do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to consider this step only if you have made a backup copy.
Since you mentioned that you are getting a gapps error code then the problem could be caused by a corrupt software. If this is the case then I recommend that you flash your phone with its stock firmware.
Note 4 Awful Battery Life After Marshmallow Update
Problem: Since update to marshmallow battery life is awful. Before update I had to charge maybe 1 x in day and half, now I sometimes have to charge 2 x a day? What can help this? Can I go back to what I had?
Solution: Several device owners have also experienced this same issue right after the software update. What you need to do first in this case is to update all of the apps installed in your phone. To do this just open the Google Play Store app then head out over to the “My apps & games” section. From here you will see a list of apps that needs to be updated. Update all of the apps that need updating. Once this is done try to check if the issue still occurs.
If the issue remains then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This takes out the temporary data in your device which could be causing the problem.
If the above steps fail to resolve the issue then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Turns On And Off
Problem: Phone will constantly turn on and off with a between 80%-100%. Will only turn on completely if connected to a power source. Once I unplug the charger, the phone returns to turn on and off constantly.
Solution: There are three possible reasons why this issue is happening. It could be caused by a faulty battery in which case you just need to get a new battery and check if the issue still occurs. It could also be caused by a glitch in the phone software in which case you will need to do a factory reset. Take note that you need to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
Lastly, this issue can also be caused by a faulty hardware component. If this is the case you need to have your phone checked at a service center.
Note 4 Does Not Boot Unless Connected To Charger
Problem: All of a sudden my phone developed a few different issues, even after a hard reset they haven’t stopped. First and foremost it will die and not reboot until plugged in. Upon plugging in the charge range will read between 25%-56%. Sometimes it will cycle thru boot up continuously. Another issue is that I after the update have an app Samsung video. I never installed it, and it tries to update but gives a 502 error every time. When I open my app manager to all apps to uninstall it’s not there.
Solution: Try getting a new battery as there’s a big possibility that this problem is caused by a faulty battery. Regarding the issue that you have with error 502 I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This is an effective troubleshooting step that also needs to be done if replacing the battery with a new one doesn’t fix the reboot issue.
If the problem still occurs even after performing the steps listed above I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center.
