Note 4 Not Working On Wi-Fi

Problem: Does not work well on wifi. If on the wifi setting the Internet is slow. Example –  videos have to continually buffer, sometimes to the point that they won’t play.  We have 8 phones all are Apple except for mine.  All Apples and computers work fine on wifi except my note 4.  I have hard  reset a few times and I keep apps to a minimum. The only way around this issue is to use cell data. It works fine on cellular data, unfortunately,  not a good option with the amount of data being used these days. Thanks.

Solution: Have you tried checking if the issue also occurs when your phone connects to a different Wi-Fi network? If it doesn’t then the issue could be caused by a setting in the router you are using. Try to access the router administration page. Make sure that the router is broadcasting in the 2.4Ghz and a 5Ghz bands. Check also if certain restrictions are set that can prevent your phone from accessing the Internet. On your phone try to do a speedtest to check what speed you are getting while connected to your Wi-Fi network. You will need to download a speedtest app to do this.

However, if the issue occurs even when your phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network then the problem could already be hardware related as you already mentioned that you have already performed a factory reset. Just to verify, did you check if the issue occurs right after the reset? If the problem doesn’t go away after the reset then I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center.

Note 4 Browser Not Working After Rooting Phone

Problem: I rooted my device today, but after rooting, the stock internet browser and google chrome stopped working, there is no error code,it just says “unfortunately chrome has stopped working or internet has stopped working”. All other apps connects over the wi-fi and works fine. I downloaded dolphin browser from playstore, and it works fine. I tried rebooting, restarting in safe mode, deleting caches, nothing works. I even tried factory reset, still same problem.

Solution: When you performed the factory reset did you immediately check if the stock browser still has the same problem? If it does then you should try to unroot your phone to check if the rooting procedure is causing this issue.

If both unrooting or doing a factory reset fails to resolve the problem then I suggest you flash the phone with its updated stock firmware. Instructions on how to perform this procedure can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

Note 4 Browser Not Working After Pop-Up Appeared

Problem: A pop up appeared saying i had a virus when I was on the Internet and I couldn’t close it with out it just opening itself up again so I did a soft reset and now everything I try to log into something it just brings me back to the login page again and also if I try to open a new page in the tab management it goes to open one and then just brings me back to the page I am on and will not open  a new tab I’ve been getting a couple emails saying that I’m requesting changes for stuff …how can I fix this issue or find whatever may have down loaded  to cause me these issues

Solution: If you clicked on the pop-up then it’s most likely that you may have introduced something into the phone that is causing this problem. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this issue. Move to the next step if the issue still occurs.

  • Clear the cache of the phone browser from the browser settings
  • Clear the cache and data of the browser app from the application manager
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Once the issue gets resolved I suggest you add another layer of protection on your phone by installing a security software app. There are several free security apps over at the Google Play Store which you can choose from that can provide excellent protection to your device.

Note 4 Can’t Connect To Mobile Data

Problem: Hello, I recently purchased a “unlocked” phone which was originally a Verizon phone. I inserted my SIM card and I am able to receive and make calls/texts. What I cannot do is connect to my Data. I am a LTE customer on Rogers Wireless. Can you assist? Thank You.

Solution: Since this is originally a Verizon phone then the issue is most likely caused by a misconfigured APN setting. Your device could still be using the Verizon settings which won’t work under the Roger’s Wireless network.

If you are in an area with a good mobile data signal and you have an active mobile data subscription then you should make sure that your phone APN settings are correct.

  • Name: Any name to identify the APN
  • APN: ltemobile.apn
  • MMSC:
  • MMS Proxy:
  • MMS Port: 80

Note 4 Can’t Use Mobile Data On Straight Talk

Problem: Hi droid guy. My issue is that I can’t use my mobile data I get 5 bars but I don’t have any Internet service I am currently using straight talk, I called them and they couldn’t help me and I don’t know what to do any more so if you could help me I would be so thankful to you. (Carrier straight talk)

Solution: Try to make sure first that you have an active mobile data subscription. Once you have confirmed this perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step if the issue remains unresolved.

Make sure that your phone is using the correct APN settings first

If you are using AT&T as service provider

  • Name: straight talk
  • APN: tfdata
  • MMSC:
  • MMS proxy:
  • MMS port: 80
  • MCC: 310
  • MNC: 410

If you are using T-Mobile as service provider

  • Name: straight talk
  • APN: wap.tracfone
  • Port: 8080
  • MMSC:
  • MMS Proxy:  Leave blank
  • MMS Port: Leave blank

If the phone settings are correct then proceed with the following.

  • Start your phone in Safe Mode. If you are able to connect in this mode then an app you downloaded may be preventing you from going online. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Can’t View 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Channel

Problem: Recently did a firmware update on my Asus RT-AC66R WiFi router. All of a sudden I wasn’t able to see any of the 2.4 GHz WiFi channels. Thought the issue was with the router, but realized it was my Note 4 as my laptop and my wife’s iPhone can see them perfectly. Rebooted phone multiple times, pulled the battery. Each time, I see the complete list including the 2.4 SSIDs, but after a few minutes, the disappear, leaving only the 5GHz SSIDs.

Solution: Try deleting the Wi-Fi connection from your phone then connect to it again. You should also check the phone’s Wi-Fi frequency band under Wi-Fi settings and make sure that it is set to automatic.

You should also make sure that  your phone is not working in power saving mode as this affects the way the device connects to a Wi-Fi network.

If after performing the steps listed above the problem still remains then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
