Note 4 Does Not Fully Charge

Problem: Hey Friends, I own a galaxy note 4 and lately I have been noticing some issues regarding the charging of the battery. This started 2 two weeks prior. I changed my battery as well and it worked well for two days and again it started to drain and now again I am facing the same issue with the battery. My battery just does not charged fully. It charges only till 69% and then remains constant even if the charger is plugged in. It discharges quickly as well…. and charges quickly till it reaches 69% and then becomes stagnant. Please help me out with this…What is the solution for this. Thank You in advance for all your suggestions.

Solution: If you have already replaced the battery with a new one then there are three possible factors that could cause this issue which we will list below.

  • Software: Sometimes a glitch in the phone software can cause this type of issue. You will need to check if an app installed in your phone is causing this problem first by starting the phone in Safe Mode. When your phone is started in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it’s possible that an app you downloaded is causing this. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
  • Charger: Sometimes a defective charger can cause this issue. Try using a different charger and charging cord then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Hardware: A component inside your phone could be damaged. If this is the case you should bring your phone to a service center that does board level repairs and have it checked.

Note 4 Shuts Down On Its Own

Problem: Previously my phone keeps shutting down on its own. I got it repaired and told me it has something to do with the phone’s rom. After a few minutes, the phone shuts down again on its own. I went back to find them and they say they will have a check. 2 weeks later they said my battery has problems and have to be switched out. Now my phone faces an issue where when i charge my phone, it shuts down for no apparent reason. The phone often gets hot when i charge it. I spent 35$ on repairing and it was no use. I hope you can help me with my note 4 thank you

Solution: Have you tried doing a factory reset on your phone? If not then try to do it. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset as it will erase your data. If this doesn’t fix the problem then try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Your aim is to take out any dirt or debris that’s stuck in this port. Use a different charging cord and charger when charging your device.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then this could be caused by an internal component that is damaged. Have your phone checked at a service center that’s capable of doing board level repairs.

Note 4 Powering Off On Its Own

Problem: I have been experiencing my phone powering off on its own usually in the 50% range, has been happening more and more often, i have just ordered a new battery to help determine if in fact it is the battery, other than that i have no clue as to what might cause this, my phone is always in pristine order, i do use religiously and never had this happen to any of my past devices and they all have been a samsung model, current phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 N910W8 model and it is a canadian model from Telus Mobility which is unlocked since moving providers. Phone is not rooted.

Related Problem: The phone shut off by itself at 36% battery. I plugged it into a charger. When I press the power button it vibrates and starts to come on. I can see “Samsung GALAXY NOTE 4 powered by ANDROID” on a black screen. Then it turns itself off, and a few second later it vibrates again and I can see the same words on a black screen. It does this over and over. I have tried all of the refreshes and resets and so far nothing has worked. What would you advise?

Solution: If your phone turns off on its own the first thing that you need to check is if the phone software is causing the problem. To do this you have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then the next step is to check if your phone battery is causing the problem by replacing it with a new one.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should have your phone checked at a service center as this is most likely a hardware related issue already.

Note 4 Not Charging

Problem: Hello, My phone has for a long time died at random percentages. Originally it was like 20%, but as time went on it went up to 50% and 60%. I got new batteries. At the high of my battery collection was like 5. I would just cycle them to deal with the low battery problems. But I lost a couple and then some of them were cheap. I  got a fresh battery recently and it still dies at random amounts. Now I have a second problem. The phone doesn’t charge when it is plugged in. I can charge the batteries in an external charger that I have, but the battery simply does not charge when it is in the phone.  This means it is an internal problem. What is it specifically?? Thanks for your time.

Solution: If your phone fails to charge then it could be caused by a defective charger unit or it could be caused by some issue with the phone itself. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to deal with this problem.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to take out any dirt or debris that might be stuck in this port and is causing the problem.
  • Try charging your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps don’t fix the issue then this might be caused by a defective charging port or power IC. I recommend that you have this phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Keeps On Rebooting

Problem: My Note 4 keeps rebooting over and over again. I can’t even get there to do a factory reboot. I am 2 weeks away for my new phone to arrive. I was told that my phone has to be in working order to do my upgrade without having to completely pay off this phone. Meaning no cracked screen and able to turn on. This has never happened to me so I wasn’t worried. I take care of all my devices. I have never dropped this Note 4 or anything! Please help me!

Solution: If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it first then check if thei sue still occurs. If it does then try connecting your phone to its wall charger. If the issue doesn’t occur then this could be a power related problem possibly due to a faulty battery. I recommend that you replace this battery. If the issue still occurs then try starting your phone in recovery mode then do the reset from here. Take note that this will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding with the reset.

Note 4 Does Not Turn On

Problem: My phone doesn’t want to turn on. At first it would shut on and off by itself even with full battery. After that, it just completely died. I tried charging it, soft resetting, safe mode, everything I’ve read on the internet, I’ve tried.  I even bought a new battery, that didn’t work. And even with the new battery I tried these things.

Solution: Since you already tried using a new battery then the problem could be caused by a defective power IC or other internal component of the phone. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center that’s capable of doing board level repairs.
