Note 4 Group Text Messages Refuse To Send
Problem: My phone refuses to send group text messages or picture messages until about 11 hours after the fact and occasionally never at all. Additionally, my navigation will often fail mid-transit and not recover to an hour without frequent restarts.
Solution: Sending a group text message or picture message is the same as sending an MMS. There are certain requirements that needs to be met before you are able to send or receive an MMS. The first thing to check is if you have an active mobile data subscription since the information you will be sending uses data. You should also make sure to turn on the mobile data switch of your device and also make sure that you have a good data signal in your area. Another requirement that needs to be met is that your phone should have the correct APN settings. This APN differs from network to network so make sure to compare the ones set in your phone to the one your network is using. If there is a difference then make the necessary changes.
Once your phone has met the requirements and you are still having the same issue then try to clear the cache and data of your messaging app. Sometimes a corrupt temporary data stored in the app can cause this problem.
One other factor that can cause this issue is a third party app installed in your phone. To check if an app is causing this problem you should start your phone in Safe Mode. Try sending a group message or picture message in this mode and see if you can easily send one out. If you can then the problem is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
You should also check if the problem is with the stock messaging app that you are using by using another app to send a group text message or picture message such as Hangouts.
If the above steps fail to resolve the problem then I suggest you wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Follow this up by doing a factory reset if the issue persists but make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.
Note 4 Cannot Create Group Text Message
Problem: i am not able to create a group text. my friend has the same exact phone and is able to do it. My friend marissa added me and my other friend in a group text. Instead of receiving the messages as one text with all of us together in it… its different. i receive what they say but as an individual text as if i’m only texting one person at once. and they cannot receive my texts together but just them 2 in a group message… what do i do to get a group text with all of us together?
Solution: To be able to receive or send a group text message there are three things that you need to check on your phone. First, make sure that your account has an active mobile data connection. Second, make sure that your phone’s mobile data switch is turned on. Third, make sure that the APN settings of your phone matches the one your carrier is using.
Once all three conditions are met and you still have the same issue try to restart your phone then clear the cache and data of your messaging app. As an alternative you can also try using the Hangouts app and see if the issue occurs when using this app.
Note 4 Unable To Attach Picture To Text Message
Problem: Whenever I try and attach a picture or screenshot to a text message, I get a Unable to Attach File message. I’ve tried all the standard clearing of cache, disabling and reenabling of messages, and whatnot. I’m using the standard message app that came on the phone. I also can receive texts with pictures without issue.
Solution: Try to check if the same issue occurs even in Safe Mode. If you can attach a picture to a text message in Safe Mode then there may be an app installed in your phone that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the issue persists you can try using the Hangouts app when attaching a picture to a text message. You should also consider doing a factory reset to resolve this problem. Just make sure to backup your phone data as it will be deleted in the process.
Note 4 Converts Text Messages To Multimedia Message
Problem: In all espects but 1 my phone works like a dream. However, when my texts (words only – no images, videos or anything else) reach a certain length (not certain exactly what length) there is a message which flashes up briefly saying something like ‘converting to multimedia message’. At this point, no matter what I do in ‘Settings’ I cannot find a way to change anything that will allow the message to be sent. I have spent hours going through all the forums known to man but cannot find a solution that exactly matches my issue. Please can you help? I would be eternally grateful! Kind regards
Solution: This may just be a setting related issue. Most carriers impose a 480 character limit on the SMS before it is being converted to MMS. Now that the message has been converted to MMS it will be sent using a data connection. There are three things that you need to check in order for the message to be sent. First, you need to make sure that your phone has an active mobile data subscription. Second, you need to make sure that the mobile data switch of your phone is turned on. Third, you need to make sure that the APN setting of your phone matches the one your carrier is using.
Note 4 Resends Text Message When Phone Reboots
Problem: When I reboot my phone, people get random text messages sent to them again. It is usually a message I have sent a week or so ago. Just happened again tonight – I rebooted and two people text me back with Huh? This could be embarrassing if a client gets an old text message again.
Solution: This appears to be a software related issue. Try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app you are using then follow this up by wiping the cache partition of your phone. Observe if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Text Messages Freezing After Update
Problem: I just updated my phone today and now my text messages are freezing and taking a long time to send a lot of lag
Solution: If your text messages are freezing after the update then I suggest you try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue occurs.
If the problem still persists then you should consider doing a factory reset. This is usually done whenever issues occur right after a software update. Just make sure to backup your phone data before performing this procedure.
