Note 4 Freezes Difficult To Turn On Issue
Problem: Hi, This morning i took my Phone and he was slow so i closed most of the apps. Then he start to freeze when i want to turn him on, so i put out the battery and then i couldn’t start him up. few hours later i could start him up and worked, but i don’t trust it anymore so made me a backup and tried to soft reset him. Freezed again and no way to turn him on not even for charging him. a local store here managed to get him back on and told me u got a software problem. And we have to send it to samsung. I was thinking maybe now i close him off and want a hard reset but again no screen or no connection to the charger. U know any similar problems? Already thanks for the help
Solution: This is actually a common issue that affects most phone models and is usually caused by some software glitch. What you will want to do first in this case is to remove the microSD card of the phone (if you have one installed). If this card has corrupt sectors then it can cause the phone to freeze.
Next, since the phone is not turning on then you will want to make sure that the battery has sufficient power. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to make sure that the battery gets charged.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- If the phone does not charge then try getting a new battery.
Once the phone charges and turns on it’s time to troubleshoot the freezing issue.
Try to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. To do this you should start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If you don’t experience the problem in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
In case the issue occurs in Safe Mode proceed with the following steps.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Not Turning On
Problem: One day out of the blue, my phone displayed a large Android icon with very small words in the top left corner of the screen. After that incident the phone began to operate differently. Restarting multiple times, not turning on and displaying information in the upper left corner of the screen at times. Then it started to only turn on sometimes but now it won’t power up at all! I took it to repair and was told they could to diagnose the problem because when plugged into their computer, it won’t come on. He advised this model phone has LOTS of problems…. I just plugged it into a charger yesterday for the first time in weeks and a screen appeared briefly…it looked like a phone connected to a computer. I think it said something on the screen about firmware….P.A. Not sure about the Android Version….
Solution: There are two troubleshooting steps that you need to perform for this particular problem. First, you should start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. If the issue still occurs after the reset or if you are unable to perform a factory reset then the next step is to flash the phone with its updated firmware file. Again, this procedure will erase your phone data. You can get the firmware file of your device from the Sammobile website which is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this could already be causes by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 MMC_Read Failed Boot Error
Problem: Hello. I’m getting the ddi: mmc_read failed boot error. But I can’t get past that screen to get into any other mode. No matter what series of buttons I push to boot in various ways it goes directly to that screen and hangs there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to check if a software glitch is causing this problem. Start the phone in recovery mode then perform a factory reset. Take note that your phone data will be erased in the process.
If the issue persists after the reset then I suggest that you flash the phone with its updated firmware file. You can get the instructions on how to flash your phone as well as the firmware file from the Sammobile website.
Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then your phone might have a faulty MMC. This is the component where data is being stored and is where the software is installed. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Freezes And Reboots After Software Update
Problem: After i updated my phone operating system through a mobile network about 5 days ago my phone started hanging and rebooting. When using it it hangs and turn blind then vibrates and restarts itself. Please help
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then you should try removing it first as this card could be causing the problem.
Another factor that can cause this problem is an app that you installed. To check if this is the case you will need to start the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
There’s also the possibility that some form of old software data that has not been completely removed is causing the problem. If this is what’s happening then you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Stuck In Do Not Turn Off Target Screen
Problem: hey i have a galaxy note 4 and it has been having problems with picking up calls and would suddenly crash, after some time i factory reset my phone but now it doesnt boot up properly and shows the “do not turn off target”, i know how to get past that screen but i want to know what causes it and what i can do to fix it. i read online that it is a hardware problems because of the android update so what can i do to fix it.
Solution: What you will want to do in this case is to remove the battery and the microSD card of the phone (if you have one installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone. If the phone turns on then you will need to backup your phone data. After backing up the data proceed with starting the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the device. Follow this up with a factory reset.
