Note 4 Downloads Update But Won’t Install It

Problem: I just got the Samsung galaxy note 4 and I am running lollipop and the phone downloads the new software but wont update it (don’t know what the newer one is) I have tried things like having the 4G turned on & off, power saving on & off and having all systems closed. Also I have updated all apps on the device. I hope there is a fix. Thanks

Solution: In cases like this it’s possible that your phone might not have enough internal storage space available to install the update. You see, the downloaded file is usually a compressed file which needs to be uncompressed then installed. If the phone detects that there isn’t enough storage space for the update then it will not install it.

Try freeing up some space in your phone by performing the steps listed below.

  • Uninstall any app that you don’t regularly use.
  • Install a microSD card in your phone then move your personal data ( music, photos, videos) to the microSD card.
  • Clear the cached data of your phone.

If the above steps don’t resolve the issue then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Will Not Update

Problem: I have had my note 4 since it came out. My phone will not update it stays on kitKat 4.4.4. When trying to update it says software is up to date. I am on at&t network. I have been trying every 24 hrs since the first update after 4.4.4, please help???

Related Problem: I just bought samsung galaxy note 4 from Craigslist. And my OS version is 5.1, and when I am trying the software updates it says your phone is up to date . But I have other same phone which is updated to OS Marshmallow. So now what should I do? Right now am in USA but returning back to India next week.

Solution: There are several factors that can affect how the phone gets the official software upgrade.

First, the phone must be running on its original network. Let’s say that the phone is locked to a particular network. You have this phone unlocked then use it on a different network. There’s a chance that the phone will not be able to get software updates since it won’t be able to access the update servers of its original network.

Second, the phone must not be rooted.

Third, the phone must still be running on its stock software.

If your phone meets the conditions listed above and you are  still not getting software updates then try the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete check if you can now update your phone.
  • Try updating your phone using Kies or Smart Switch.
  • Manually update the phone by flashing the updated firmware file. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

Note 4 Stuck In Boot Loop

Problem: My Samsung Note 4 (only 2 years old) has been getting stuck in a reboot loop. The last few times it happened, I used the home/volume key tip I pulled from offline which worked. Tonight it happened again but did not work, so I restored back to factory setting. While resetting my phone I tried to open my contacts and my phone shut off again. What is happening? Thank you for your help?

Solution: You might want to check first if this is a power related problem. To do this you should connect your phone to its charger then check if the phone reboots while connected. If your phone does not reboot while connected to its charger then you should consider replacing the battery as this could be causing the problem.

If the issue still occurs even after getting a new battery then it’s possible that there’s a problem with the power IC of this phone.

I suggest that you have this phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Battery Needs To Be Removed To turn On Phone

Problem: I have been having issues for a while with my note 4. I am running 6.0.1. Used to shut down randomly. That has stopped. Now if it has been sitting unused for a while it’ll be unresponsive. I have to remove the battery to get it to come back on. I’ve reset the phone, got a new battery. Still the same. I have been trying to update but when the phone shuts down for reboot it stays off. I have to remove the battery to get it to come back on.

Solution: Since you have already done a factory reset and also replaced the battery then there’s a chance that the problem is caused by an issue with the power IC of the phone. I suggest that you have this checked at a service center that specializes in board level repairs.

Note 4 Unfortunately Phone Has Stopped Error

Problem: I cant receive calls everytime my phone gets a phone call it pops up with a window saying unfortunately phone has stopped. And also my phone turns off at 25% battery and i’ve bought a new battery, taken the battery out for 10 seconds, also the phone lags… so what should i do? i need help please

Solution: You should try wiping the cache partition of your phone first from the recovery mode. Restart the phone after this then  check if the issue still occurs. If it does then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 DCMProvider Error

Problem: Hello! My phone Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-N9100. When I upgraded to the latest version 5.1.1, the machines are always appear the words DCMProvider and also from the moment my phone’s battery very quickly at all. Please help me fix this situation. Thank you!

Solution: Since this problem occurred right after you updated your phone software I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will most likely resolve the DCMProvider issue and the battery drain problem you are having.
