Note 4 Battery Dies With Charge Left

Problem: hello i am having a issue with my samsung galaxy note 4 it was originally for AT&T but has been factory unlocked i bought it used and i am having a issue with the battery it always dies while there is still battery left and the battery will still drain if i’m using it while it is on the charger i have reinstalled stock 5.1 and it seemed it was working but the issue came right back i don’t know what else to do

Solution: It appears that the battery of the phone might not be performing at its optimal level anymore. I’d recommend that you get a new battery and check if this fixes the problem. Make sure to get an original Samsung battery for your phone so you won’t have any compatibility issues with it.

Note 4 Turns Off Then Goes To Boot Loop

Problem: Hi, I’ve a Samsung Galaxy Note (4) Edge and I’m having problem with my battery (not sure if it is) because sometimes when my phone has charged to the 50% or 30% it turns off and it starts an infinite loop (turning on and off automatically). I’ve tried to buy another battery but the problem persists so I think it’s a firmware problem, now I’ve bought a new battery because the last one emitted a voltage of  3.3 V but it have to issue 4,4 V. Also the original battery (which one was in the box with the phone) emits 3,3-3,6 V and only if it is under charge it emits 4,4 V, is it normal?

Solution: The standard battery for this phone is a 3.85 volt Li-Ion battery with a charge voltage of 4.4 volts. If this isn’t what’s stated in the battery that you got then try getting the official Samsung battery for this device. If the problem still occurs even with the official battery then it’s time to take a look at the phone software. Before proceeding make sure to backup your phone data. You should also take out the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed.

To troubleshoot the software side you will need to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. To do this just start the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. If the issue doesn’t occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you should consider doing a factory reset.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem I suggest that you have this phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Battery Drains Fast

Problem: Hello there. My phone is about one year old since I got it. The past few months the battery got drained really fast. After it’s fully charged overnight and I disconnect it in the morning, despite hardly being used, it can go from 100% to 80% in just one hour. Much time I capture some short video clip (about 90 secs) while the battery is still at 60%, my phone would shut down and the battery is completely go to 0%. However, when I attach it to the wall charger, to my surprise, within 5 mins, it shoots back up to about 50%. Here are a few things I’ve done, without any improvement: Use another Note 4 battery. Clear cache partition. Factory reset, then restored backed up data. Swap out for another Note 4 Did 2 and 3 again with restored backed up data Did 2 and 3 again without restoring old data. Got a new battery (phone will not boot) I really appreciate any insight provided.

Solution: It appears that the issue is already hardware related possibly caused by an internal component that is failing to work. What’s even strange is that it is happening on both Note 4 devices since you mentioned that you swapped another Note 4. I recommend that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked so that the malfunctioning component can be pinpointed.

Note 4 Not Charging On Power Bank

Problem: I recently got a 2200 mAh power bank for my Samsung Note 4 and am having some trouble. When I initially plug the phone up to the bank it will charge but after a minute or two the bank shuts off. I know it is not a faulty power bank because my friend used it with no problems. Is there something with Samsung phones that isn’t compatible with the power bank? Is there a setting I’m missing that I need to change? Any tips or advice at all?

Solution: Try using a different charging cord as sometimes the problem could be caused by the cord. If the issue remains even when using a different cord then it’s possible that the output voltage of the power bank is not compatible with your phone. This phone is capable of accepting a charge input of 9V at 1.67A or 5V at 2.0A. You should also test your phone with another power bank as the current power bank you are using might not work well with your phone.

Note 4 Not Turning On

Problem: hello I have a problem with my note 4, the phone would turn on and the after showing the start up screen it dies. yet the led light still stays on and continues to blink. Every time try to turn it on it does the same thing, but sometimes it does not even turn on till i remove the battery. What should I do?

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to check if a glitch in the phone software is causing the problem by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. This will erase the temporary system data of the device which could be causing the problem. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy first.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then try getting a new battery as sometimes the issue could be caused by a faulty battery.

Should the issue still occur at this point then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Shuts Down When Using Apps

Problem: My device shuts down between 99-80% when I’m using apps like email, internet, ig, or texting. I can talk on the ph below those percentages but as soon as I disconnect the call, the phone shuts down. Once it shuts down under those circumstances it will not power on until it’s connected to the charger.

Solution: Try to check first if an app you downloaded is causing thi problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue doesn’t occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then backup your phone data and follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Do a factory reset. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Try replacing the battery with a new one.

If you are still experiencing the same problem at this point then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

  1. When the Note 4 shuts down with power left in the battery and the battery isn’t very old (as in you have replaced it), you are probably looking at hardware failure, most likely the Power IC. This answer was written by an idiot. Google could have done better.

  2. Hello!

My Samsung Galaxy Note 4 informed me a few times that it was almost full so I deleted lots of pictures from the phone. About a week ago it shut itself down a few times, and sent SOS messages to my emergency contacts 2-3 times. I charged it full and took it to a graduation ceremony for picture taking. But right as the ceremony started, the phone shut itself down and refused to be turn on again.

I tried all the ways your site recommends, the phone still won’t budge. So I took it to a T-Mobile store, the rep thought the phone looks fine and might need a new battery. So I ordered a new battery (authentic Samsung battery), put inside, well the phone still won’t turn on. I plugged in charger and USB, the phone still show no sign of life at all, totally non-responsive, dead.

What could be the problem? I use T-mobile and purchased the phone new at the end of 2015. It was working all fine till the end of May. It went dead on June 1.

Your advice and help are greatly appreciated!
