Retro Feature: Dragon’s Lair

This is a series of posts featuring some of the new and good retro games that Google has been featuring. The goal is to give you a good idea of what the game is about and if it is worth the price they are asking for. This is by no means a review.

Welcome to day 3 of the retro feature! Today’s feature is Dragon Lair, which is one of the more recent retro releases on the Android platform. One of the best parts of Dragon’s Lair is the fact that there is both the phone and tablet variants of  the game for one extremely low price. Dragon’s Lair is visually stunning in terms of the retro graphics. This stunning world is full of hand-drawn animation that was adapted from the extremely popular arcade classic of Dragon’s Lair. Originally transferred from the original high def film, you, the player, will be able to experience this extremely amazing authentic experience.

In Dragon’s Lair, you just person the direction that you with to go with the character Dirk The Daring. You also use your sword to defend yourself and fight everything that the protagonist Evil Wizard Mordroc throws at you. In this version of Dragon Lair, it is entirely compatible with Android versions all the way back to 1.6 through the current release, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Supposedly the developers have sort of “remastered” all of the footage from the original title for a variety of screen resolutions so that all of the various Android devices will get to take Dragon’s Lair for a good ol’ test run. While the game looks very retro-cartoony, I swear that you will thoroughly enjoy playing Dragon’s Lair. With only having to pay the price of $2.50 for both the Phone and Tablet version of the game, it is entirely, and I mean entirely worth the purchase.

One of the things that is recommended about this game, is that the Wi-Fi is turned on before you start to download it. It is a rather large game, and will take a bit to finish, so it is very advised that you do not use your mobile network if you a trying to avoid charges. Still, while it may take a while to download, those who grab the game are in for a really awesome time with this retro game. Not only that, but those who really enjoy retro games, will enjoy the classic save the princess storyline the game contains. Check out the embedded trailer for the game below:

Dragon’s Lair is currently available for both Android and iTunes for $2.50. Not only that, but Dragon’s Lair has also been optimized to work with Xperia Play. You can hit one of the download links that lead either to Google Play or iTunes below to take a look at the amazing Dungeon’s Lair for yourself.

Make sure to check back tomorrow for our next Android retro feature! You really do not want to miss out on this next one!
