Only the Korean variant of the LG G2 will pack a removable battery

After the launch of the LG G2 a couple of days ago, some of us were left confused for obvious reasons. While the New York announcement clearly stated that the smartphone packs a 3,000 mAh battery and no microSD card slot on board, a subsequent report claimed that the LG G2 in fact sports a 2,610 mAh removable battery and a microSD card slot. This is basically just a simple confusion as LG is launching two different variants of the smartphone.

The one with the 2,160 mAh battery and the microSD card slot is in fact the Korean variant of the smartphone, while the smartphone shown during the NY announcement was the American variant. The battery on the Korean LG G2 is Lithium ion, which suits swapping while the American G2 packs a Lithium polymer battery which cannot be switched or removed that easily. The presence of a microSD card slot is an added bonus on the Korean variant.

So this should pretty much settle the confusion, although we wish LG would have cleared this up during its announcement on the 7th of August. Check out the video below for the unboxing of the Korean LG G2.
