NVIDIA to launch a Shield Tablet successor with Tegra X1 chipset

NVIDIA Shield Tablet

A new report suggests that NVIDIA is looking to replace the Shield Tablet with a new variant next month. This version will reportedly pack a Tegra X1 chipset which was announced last month at CES. The GPU on the chip promises to be 40% faster than the predecessor (Tegra K1) and uses substantially less power too.

There’s no word on what else the tablet will feature, but it is likely that NVIDIA will retain the Direct Stylus 2 support and also feature Android 5.0 Lollipop since the existing models of the Shield Tablet have already received the update. There’s a possibility that NVIDIA will pack¬†a Quad HD display as well, which should be an interesting addition on the tablet.

The Shield Tablet is one of the best Android gaming tablets available in the market today, so there will be heightened expectations from the company if it launches a successor. What do you expect to see from the second gen Shield Tablet? Let us know below.
