Nokia X2 officially announced with a 4.3 inch display and faster processor

Nokia X2

After several leaks and rumors, the Nokia X2 smartphone has finally gone official today. The handset is a significant improvement over the Nokia X and packs some much needed upgrades. The display size of the smartphone has been bumped to 4.3 inches from 4.0 inches, although the resolution remains unchanged at 480 x 800.

Also new on board is a slightly improved 5-megapixel camera sensor, 1GB of RAM and a 1,800 mAh battery. The dual core Snapdragon 200 SoC on board has been overclocked to 1.2 GHz here, which should make the device quite snappy as well. The company has also updated the custom Android based home launcher here with multitasking in mind. As you have probably noticed from the press images, the smartphone also has a new home button on the bottom bezel in addition to the back button.

The Nokia X2 will retail in European markets for €99 ($135) which is quite reasonable for a smartphone of this caliber. The Nokia X was priced similarly at launch, so this is not surprising. The handset will start selling in Nokia’s key markets starting next month. Given the announcement of this smartphone, we can expect the original Nokia X to get a significant price over the coming weeks.
