The Motorola Nexus 6 has officially started reaching customers hands as of recently. And customers saw the surprising exclusion of the LED indicator on the device which has been available on almost every Nexus handset before this. Motorola and Google used Ambient Display in favor of this, which would give users a brief outline of pending notifications right on the display.
A new post on Reddit has now revealed that the Nexus 6 is indeed packing a multicolored LED (red, blue and green), although not meant for use. As you can see from the image above, the LED is located right beneath the top speaker grill, which is where most smartphones have the notification LED located. This feature can be enabled if you’re able to gain root access on the device and download the Light Flow app from the Google Play Store. This app is renowned for supporting a wide range of apps with customized LED colors.
However, it seems like too much hassle to go through to enable something as trivial as a built-in LED. Perhaps Google will officially enable support for the LED indicator in future builds of Android. What do you make of this new revelation?
