New images of the Sony Lens Camera leak out

Sony Lens Camera

A new leak has revealed plenty of new images of the upcoming Sony Lens Camera a.k.a Smart Shot accessories. And it is now revealed that the lens won’t actually need to be hooked onto the smartphone to be able to snap images. It is said that these lenses can capture images remotely, which is a boon for self-portrait lovers.

As we already know, these lenses come with a CPU, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth as well as NFC for easy sharing and the images can be saved on the lens as well as the smartphone. So it is a lot more than an add-on accessory for your smartphone. These official images reveal quite a lot about the lenses and unsurprisingly the Xperia Z1 is also seen here. Xperia devices apparently will have an exclusive case for the lenses, which will transform the smartphone into a complete point and shoot camera.

These lenses will be compatible with select Android phones and iPhones, so Sony is clearly aiming high. Rumors have suggested that these lenses could cost upwards of $450, so this might not be for everybody. The two lenses will be known as the DSC-QX10 and the DSC-QX100 when it hits the markets. These accessories should most likely be announced in a couple of days during Sony’s September 4 Xperia Z1 launch event.
