Netflix update in May will finally let users control streaming quality

#Netflix, which is the provider of a number of original content and thousands of movies has one crucial problem. It’s that the service doesn’t allow customers to choose the stream quality they desire. This essentially means that Netflix automatically adjusts video quality depending on your internet connection (and not really speed). But it seems like the streaming service has finally come to its senses as it has decided to offer a user controllable setting on Netflix starting May.

It is said that this feature will make its way to the service in the form of an update (mostly for apps). It is not known if the browser version of Netflix will receive this feature as well since this appears to be directed towards mobile users. By the company’s own admission, the video quality of Netflix streaming dropped significantly when watching it over AT&T or Verizon’s network. This new update should help fix that as the control will be in the hands of the customers.

It’s about striking a balance that ensures a good streaming experience while avoiding unplanned fines from mobile providers,” said Anne Marie Squeo from the Netflix executive team.
