The trio of Motorola’s Verizon Droid devices are now getting Android 4.4.4 through a soak test. This means the final release of the update is not far away, which is excellent news if you own either of the three smartphones.
The Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and the Droid Mini are currently on Android 4.4.2 with Motorola putting a hold on the 4.4.3 update given the OpenSSL related bug it left unattended. You will see the update hit the three devices immediately if you’re part of Motorola’s Feedback Network.
It hasn’t been too long since Nexus devices got the update, so this is a quick turnaround from Motorola to roll out the update for its three smartphones. Since the three devices are Verizon branded, customers might have to wait longer than usual to get the update.
The idea behind soak tests like these are to spot any bugs with the update and fix them before the commercial release. So don’t expect a perfect version of Android 4.4.4 if you’re signed up for the soak test.
