Thanks to a leak coming out of Mexico over the weekend, we’re getting a very good glimpse of the upcoming Moto G Stylus. There has been a lot of speculation about this smartphone given that Moto hasn’t launched a stylus toting phone in quite some time. This leak now gives us a very good glimpse of the handset itself along with some details on the hardware specs as well.
One of the first things noticeable about the smartphone barring the stylus is the punch hole camera on the top left side of the display panel. Naturally, the phone also has a dedicated slot for the stylus, although it’s unclear from this leak if it will have any unique or standout features as we’ve seen with Samsung’s S Pen stylus over the years.
The phone is believed to be packing a 5,000 mAh battery along with a Snapdragon 665 octa-core processor, suggesting that this may well be a mid-range offering. Moto has been quite busy over the past few months, particularly with the announcement of the Verizon-exclusive 2019 Razr. This phone surprised everyone with its foldable display and clamshell form factor.
However, Moto has a good reason to be concerned now as Samsung prepares to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip in just over a week from today. Meanwhile, Samsung also announced the Galaxy Note 10 Lite early last month, which explains Motorola’s rationale behind launching a device like the Moto G Stylus.
It’s hard to tell if this smartphone will strike a chord with the consumers given that there’s a lot we don’t know about it yet, particularly the pricing. There’s no word on whether the phone will be available in the U.S. when released, although it’s likely that Moto will keep this limited to Latin America, Europe, and Asia.
