Earlier today, Motorola announced a new contest where a designer has to represent his/her ideas with an innovative watch face for the Moto 360. In return, Motorola would offer them a free unit of the Moto 360 as a reward. In this contest announcement, Motorola has accidentally or perhaps intentionally revealed the average retail value or ARV of the smartwatch to be $249.
Reports in the past have suggested that the smartwatch could cost $300 or thereabouts, but since it is coming directly from Motorola we’re leaning our hopes on this particular revelation.
A leak from yesterday suggested that the smartwatch could cost €249 in Europe, which gives further credence to this new reveal. This merely suggests the cost of the smartwatch they’re giving away, so it’s likely that it was done on purpose. Either way, we have a pricing to go with before the device officially breaks cover in the coming weeks.
The Moto 360 is easily one of the best Android Wear smartwatches we’ve been looking at, so it’s clearly going to make a lot of noise heading into the official launch.
