LG Nexus 5 (D821) spotted on Bluetooth SIG, confirms LTE and Bluetooth 4.0

Nexus 5 Bluetooth SIG

The LG Nexus 5 (D821) has just passed Bluetooth SIG certification. This certification confirms the existence of Bluetooth 4.0 on the upcoming Nexus flagship. The site also confirms that the smartphone will come with support for LTE networks.¬†But there’s no additional info available from the listing. There have been several rumors about the launch date of the Nexus 5, but the latest reports are pegging an October 15 release date for the smartphone. The timing of this certification gives weight to these claims as well.

From what we know so far, the LG Nexus 5 is rumored to pack a 4.95 inch 1080p display, an 8MP camera on the back, 16 or 32GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, a 2.3 Snapdragon 800 chip, LTE, Android 4.3 and a 2,300 mAh battery. It was claimed that LG and Google will announce two separate battery variants of the smartphone, probably for the separate LTE variant. There are still some doubts to be clarified and we’ll hope to learn more as the launch date nears.

  1. This is the LG-D821 — “International” Nexus5.
The “North America” LG-D820 already went through the FCC — but when going through this same Bluetooth certification was split into TWO variants: LG-D820_S and LG-D821_C.
