Leaked Images Reveal HTC One Max has a Fingerprint Sensor at the Back

HTC’s upcoming high end phablet the 5.9 Inch HTC One Max has been in the rumor section of news blogs for weeks now.  Images of this phablet have leaked for weeks now and we know almost every feature and specification there is to know about the device – although everything is still a rumor.  Today, we have definite proof (in leaked images) that this may be the first high end device in the recent race for high performance, larger screens and powerful processors, to come with a fingerprint sensor.

The new images suggest that the phablet will come equipped with a fingerprint scanner at the back of the device among other amazing features that HTC’s current flagship smartphone, the 4.7 inch HTC One, conspicuously lacks.  Based on images published by e-Price, HTC One Max the fingerprint sensor is located right below the camera on the back cover of the device.

Although the pictured HTC One is expected to have a fingerprint sensor, there is no guarantee that the device will be coming in one version – all devices with the sensor.  There is a chance that HTC may make several versions of the phablet or perhaps make the fingerprint enabled phablet available in a particular market.  It appears that the photographed HTC One Max was made for the Chinese market as it has a removable back plate that covers a microSD card slot – just like the Chinese version of HTC One.  However, if HTC goes as per the HTC One design for different markets, then the US and European versions of the HTC One Max may come with a sealed back.

In other rumors I read on Engadget, a China-bound HTC One Max was pictured somewhere and the device will be coming with dual-SIM capability.  The pictured device is headed to China’s Unicom network and features a removable back cover fashioned out of a metal to provide easy access to the dual SIM slots and a MicroSD card slot positioned close to the top right corner.

The leaked HTC One max images also reveal a set of docking pins placed on the bottom right of the device meaning that it is very likely that we will see official dock accessories from HTC during or after launch.

HTC is also said to be experimenting on dual-camera capture function, something that its competitors including LG’s G Pro and Samsung’s galaxy S4 have but it is not clear what strides they have made or whether this feature will come with the next device launch.  If you are not aware, the HTC One Max is a 5.9 inch 1080p Full HD display, a 2.3 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB RAM, an ultrapixel camera and wireless charging capability.

HTC is expected to unveil the HTC One Max on September 4th during the 2013 IFA in Berlin.  Other manufacturers are expected to launch their Android devices too including Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3, LG’s G Pad tablet and Sony’s Xperia Z1 (Honami) phablet but the device will hit the market on September 18th.  Let’s sit back and see how this launch will impact the competition in the market.
