Leak reveals how the iris scanner would work on the Galaxy Note 7

Galaxy Note 7 Iris Scanner

The #Samsung #GalaxyNote7 is just a couple of weeks away from release. One of the most rumored features of this coveted flagship was the iris scanner. While couple of renders and further reports almost confirmed the existence of this feature, we now have full blown proof coming via Chinese social media site, Weibo.

This reveals how the feature would work, along with the software side of things. What’s not clear at this point is if the company will allow users to have this as well as the fingerprint scanner in tandem. That might not be a bad choice as it would add an extra layer of security. But it’s just as likely that it would be an either-or situation.

One of the screen images reveals that it is recommended to hold the phone about 25-35 cms away from your eyes while trying to unlock your device using the iris scanner. However, will it be as efficient as manual unlock or fingerprint sensors? These are some of the questions that are plaguing us right now. But kudos to Samsung for trying to change the convention by pushing something new.
