Indian Handset Maker Releasing New Low Cost Froyo Android Device Feb 2011

An Indian computer firm called Intex is diving into the world of Android by releasing an new smartphone powered by Android 2.2 “Froyo”

Intex General Manager Sudhir Kumar, said “We will launch an Android 2.2 phone in the first week of February and it will priced at around Rs 5,500.” (which is about $122 US) This phone is hardware only and not subsidized through some Indian carrier.¬† In addition to the Android news Kumar said they are introducing 4 new models of their “V Show” model which features an in phone projector similar to the Samsung Galaxy Beam.

Presumably, with an early February launch plan they are looking at an MWC announcement.
