Hulu unveils new iPad app

Hulu has unveiled their Hulu Plus app that has been completely redesigned and focuses on discovery, allowing their users to find new content that they might not otherwise have came into contact with. The new app has some new features as well; if you see an image of a movie or tv show in the app and you are unfamiliar with it just tap on it and then you will be taken to the discover panel.

The discover panel will present you with the first episode, the next episode or the latest episode. A summary of the episode will also be included incase the image doesn’t immediately get you interested in the show, you can just swipe in any direction to continue browsing through Hulu’s back catalogue. Another cool feature that has been added to the new version of the app is that you can continue to search or browse while watching a TV show or movie.

This feature works by pinching the the video to minimize and it will continue to play, this is a feature that I think would be perfect for other streaming services to add. If Netflix added that feature I for one would be a lot happier. The new Hulu app is live on the app store to and can be downloaded now.

  1. Thanks for the article John. Netflix app (or Hulu, or BBC, etc) is great on iPad. If live outside USA, you can use tools like UnoTelly to get Netflix (or Hulu, or BBC, etc) on your iPhone.
