HTC sheds light on HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update schedule, confirms KitKat for DROID DNA

HTC was one of the first manufacturers to come out with an official statement on its update plans for Android 4.4 KitKat, and had confirmed that at least the US variants of the HTC One would be updated to KitKat by January next year. Now, HTC has provided an update on those plans through multiple tweets on its official Twitter account.

First and foremost, the Taiwanese company reaffirms its plans to update the HTC One to Android 4.4 by the end of January, though there’s still no mention of the schedule for the international model. The Verizon One is mentioned as well – that particular variant is still stuck on Android 4.2, but the Android 4.3 update will be on every user’s device before the end of December, with an update that prepares the device for the 4.3 update coming out this week.

HTC also spreads some light on the DROID DNA’s future, in response to a user – the Verizon-exclusive 5-incher will also be updated to KitKat, sometime before the end of the first quarter of 2014, pending certification from carriers.¬†As always, these are only tentative timelines. Delays can, and likely will, happen, though it’s great to see HTC keeping a line of communication open with customers. In fact, if the quick rollout of Android 4.3 for the HTC One is any indication, owners of the device might just be enjoying the chocolate-flavored version of Android before the end of February, at the least.
